Manager of Development
JOB CLASSIFICATION
Pay grade level: Grade 15
Compensation: up to $84,132. Compensation will be commensurate with education and experience.

SUMMARY
The Manager of Development is responsible for the planning, implementation, and management of comprehensive fundraising programs for the Kansas City Kansas Community College (KCKCC) Foundation. The Position focuses on major gifts, donor engagement, scholarship gifts, and community partnerships that support student success, workforce development, and institutional priorities. This individual is directly involved in activities that engage individuals, alumni, and corporate and foundation support.
The Manager meets or exceeds budgeted goals, helps develop the Foundation goals, and collaborates with other leaders in the organization to identify and solicit funding that supports the mission. Reporting to the Executive Director. The Manager collaborates with the Executive Director to review progress against goals and ensure the strategies will meet the needs of the organization so it can better serve its students and all other constituents.
This role serves as a key liaison between the Foundation, College Leadership, Foundation Board of Directors, and external stakeholders throughout Wyandotte County and the greater Kansas City region.
POSITION DESCRIPTION
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive fundraising plan aligned with College and Foundation priorities through annual, major, and planned gifts.
  • Manage a major ($1,000+) donor portfolio between 50 and 75 that builds relationships with alumni, individuals, and organizations to secure philanthropic support.
  • Identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward major gift prospects and donors.
  • Collaborate with the Executive Director to support capital, annual, scholarship, and special fundraising initiatives.
  • Build and maintain relationships with community leaders, alumni, and business partners.
  • Provide support and guidance to Foundation Board Members to enhance fundraising engagement.
  • Coordinate donor stewardship activities, including recognition, reporting, and communications.
  • Maintain accurate donor records and prospect activity in the Foundation's donor database (CRM).
  • Track and report fundraising performance, pipeline activity, and outcomes.
  • Assist with planning and execution of Foundation events and donor engagement activities.
  • Partner with college departments to identify funding opportunities and priorities.
  • Represent the Foundation at campus and community events.
  • Ensure compliance with all College policies and ethical fundraising standards.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
  • Knowledge of fundraising principles, donor cultivation, and stewardship practices.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with various populations.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Highlight and articulate college and foundation strategic goals.
  • Understand Blackbaud Raiser's Edge or related moves management CRM.
  • Be a developer of strategic and meaningful relationships.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's Degree in nonprofit management, communications, journalism, or related field.
  • Three to five (3-5) years of fund development experience in a nonprofit setting with direct fundraising responsibilities and familiarity with CRM nonprofit software.
  • Demonstrated success in major gift fundraising and donor relationship management.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Master's Degree in nonprofit management, communications, journalism, or related field.
  • Minimum of Five (5) years of fund development experience in a nonprofit setting with direct fundraising responsibilities and familiarity with Blackbaud Raiser's Edge nonprofit software.

WORKING CONDITIONS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, talk, hear, walk, and sit. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may occasionally push or lift items.
WORK SCHEDULE
40 hours per week, during regular hours of Monday - Friday 8:00 am - 4:30 pm. Must be able to work a variable schedule/hour to meet operational needs. May require evening and weekend hours.
