Familiarity with payroll software such as ADP, Paychex, or QuickBooks, and often certification like the Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC), is expected. In a job context, 'biweekly' typically refers to something that happens every two weeks. Most commonly, it is used to describe a pay schedule where employees receive their paycheck every other week, resulting in 26 paychecks per year. This schedule is different from 'semimonthly,' which means twice a month. Biweekly pay periods can affect how overtime, benefits, and deductions are calculated, so it's important for employees to understand their company's specific policies.
