Overview
The Assistant Director of Diocesan Engagement is a highly organized and relationship-oriented professional with strong communication and project management skills who supports the Office of Diocesan Engagement in the management of The National Collection for The Catholic University of America, as well as the affinity group for clergy and religious alumni. The Assistant Director serves as the central operational liaison for the Office, helping to coordinate workflows, communication, and follow-through, while overseeing key functions for Office events. The Assistant Director demonstrates sound judgment, exceptional attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities while representing the Office with professionalism and discretion.
Established in 2023, the Office of Diocesan Engagement serves as the primary liaison between the University and the nation's 196 dioceses, archdioceses, and eparchies. The Office advances strategic collaboration, communication, and resource-sharing to strengthen Catholic life and formation in the United States and beyond.
The projected salary range for this position, which represents the full range of anticipated compensation, is: $70,000- $75,000
Responsibilities
1. Support in the administration and coordination of The National Collection for the Catholic University of America, working closely with Advancement Gift Acceptance, Stewardship, Operations, the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops, and external diocesan representatives; provide analysis and projection data related to revenue goals.
2. Coordinate and facilitate semiannual informational training on National Collection for the University's Cardinal Ambassador program, and collaborate in volunteer follow-up and stewardship, in collaboration with the Office of Alumni Engagement.
3. Assist the development and execution of programming for clergy and religious alumni, Cardinals for Christ, under the leadership of the Director of Diocesan Engagement and in collaboration with the Office of Alumni Engagement and the Office of Advancement Events.
4. Support the implementation of the national engagement strategy for the bishops of the United States on behalf of the Office of the President and other University leadership. Responsibilities include drafting correspondence, planning and coordination of bishop visits to campus, annual USCCB event planning, and general project support.
5. Contribute to the Division of University Advancement's fundraising, stewardship, and engagement objectives through effective collaboration with University partners, Church leaders, volunteers, and external constituents.
6. Manage the day-to-day operations of the Office, including record-keeping within the Division's CRM; internal and external communications; arranging travel; expense tracking and reporting; correspondence; and scheduling.
7. Other job-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree with at least two (2) years in higher education, ecclesial, non-profit, or similar work setting dealing with volunteer management, alumni relations, event management, fundraising, or related responsibilities.
Experience in content programming, event management, and volunteer management is desirable. Understanding of Catholic constituencies is highly desirable.
