Job description

Shift: 2:00 PM-12:00 AM Hourly Rate: $24.51 an hour

The Sauce Cook will perform a variety of duties including but not limited preparing, mixing, and cooking sauces according to approved recipes and formulas in a timely manner, filling out all required Government and Company documentation, inspection of work environment including equipment adjustments as necessary, completing all required audits and tests according to company policy and procedure ensuring good housekeeping and 5S standards are met.

Essential Job Functions: 

  • Ability to work the scheduled/assigned times and required overtime for position  

  • Ability to read, write, communicate, and comprehend written instructions in English  

  • Excellent communication skills  

  • Must be well organized and able to prioritize multiple tasks simultaneously  

  • Ability to work individually as well as with others as a team at all levels  

  • Intermediate math skills  

  • Basic knowledge of computers including email  

  • Ability to complete work requests for the correction of defects and improvements  

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs repetitively  

  • Must be able to work in hot humid heat  

Job Duties: 

  • Complete and return all required documentation (e.g., HACCP, SSOP, Usage, etc.) in English  

  • Inspect work environment for defects prior to startup (e.g., infusers, kettles, cooling system, etc.) ensuring proper notification upon discovery (e.g., QA, Supervisor, Maintenance)  

  • Complete daily scale audit in English to ensure proper usage and prepare and adjust equipment as needed for startup  

  • Verify ingredients and safely transfer all ingredients to kitchen using PIT ensuring good housekeeping and 5S standards are met  

  • Review requisition and batch sheets to ensure all items and quantities received are correct  

  • Perform viscosity and temperature checks and record the results in English adhering to company standards  

  • Ensure sauce sample is taken according to company policy and procedure  

  • Ensure all changeover activities are complete including returning ingredients, disposing of trash, and cleaning and sanitizing equipment  

  • Attend daily/weekly DDS meetings as necessary  

  • May perform other duties as assigned  

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required: 

  • Knowledge of GMP’s and food allergens  

  • Ability to be HACCP Certified, PIT Certified, and LOTO Certified  

  • Ability to operate computer  

  • Ability to identify Critical Control Points (CCP)  

  • Ability to read a thermometer  

  • Knowledge of the 5S concept  

  • Ability to work with pork, chicken, beef and shellfish products in addition to many other ingredients and allergens  

Qualifications: 

Education:  High school diploma or GED preferred. 

Experience:  3 months production or related experience preferred.
