The Senior Project Manager, Medical Science & Translational Research is a senior-level project management professional who will help to serve and to lead the US and global project management needs of Medical Science and Translational Research at MTDA. The incumbent will support a team of locally and remotely located translational and medical scientists whose joint task is to partner with laboratory based colleagues, and the early development preparation teams, to advance pre-clinical stage molecules and biologics through translational stages, early commercial assessment, and detailed proposals for initiation of Phase 1, proof-of-concept, and preliminary clinical development plans for effective transition and hand-off to the formal Clinical Development organization. Ultimately, this role will help drive the team to competitive success in the development of first in class drugs, and novel therapies and indications.
Job Description
  • Provide expert-level, hands-on project leadership of significant complexity in pre-clinical and translational research in a fast-paced, science-driven environment.
  • Create role model level quality integrated development, risk management plans, and communication plans.
  • Maintain detailed timelines, budgets, and resource utilization across a portfolio of molecules and biologics in different stages of development and with the deployment of multiple skilled scientists in the context of their explorations, work, travel, synthesis, and timeliness of deliverables.
  • Serve as a change agent driving continuous process improvement. Work seamlessly within a matrix structure to help direct, train, and influence team members and colleagues in best practices with regard to: organizational dynamics, communication, corporate culture, quality, timelines, cost, budget, and resources required in order to meet the goals of multiple concurrent local and
    international development projects.
  • Support the Head of Department in various initiatives designed to enhance Project and Portfolio Management.
  • Interact directly with and support and guide the expanding local and international work of the Vice President, Translational Research and Medical Science, as well as the growing Translational Research & Medical Science organization.

Qualifications
  • PhD in chemistry, physics, engineering, or the biological sciences'
  • PMP Certification is preferred
  • Minimum of 10-15 years of experience in Pharmaceutical Development
  • Minimum of 5-8 years of experience in either a Project Management role (e.g., a senior-level
    pre-clinical or translational research project management) or a Regulatory role
  • Strong computer skills: Lotus Notes, Windows, MS Office (Word, Excel, Power Point) and MS
    Project
  • Experience working in a multi-cultural, multi-lingual environment
  • Proven ability to manage multiple complex projects, both locally and remotely
  • Strong influencing skills; proven ability to engage colleagues to meet project timelines and
    deliverables
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication, interpersonal and analytical skills
