Job description

Overview

Guggenheim is seeking an exceptional candidate to join as a sell-side Equity Research Analyst or Associate to cover the Biotechnology sector. The role involves tracking public/private biotechnology companies and supporting the research team with fundamental analysis and investment research.

Responsibilities
  • Provide support to the team through fundamental analysis and investment research in equity markets with an emphasis on original, bottomโ€‘up research in the Biotechnology sector.
  • Analyze individual Biotechnology companies to build and update fully integrated financial and valuation models.
  • Write comprehensive research reports and present findings; draft reports/notes on relevant investment themes, events, and breaking news.
  • Conduct primary research through industry sources including financial analysis, due diligence, clinical data, and industry trends, company management and strategies.
  • Organize physician calls for investors and investor events.
  • Update analyst marketing handouts regularly.
  • Interact with the firmโ€™s institutional sales force and investor clients.
  • Respond to client and internal inquiries regarding research findings and directives.
Qualifications

Preferred

  • Fluency in modeling financial statements.
  • Comfortable with large data sets and reporting.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills to successfully convey investment messages, ideas, or nuances to team members, salespeople, and/or traders.
  • Outstanding analytical skills; ability to conduct deep primary research, analysis, and draw conclusions from information.
  • Strong interpersonal relationship skills conducive to building relationships.
  • Ability to thrive in a fastโ€‘paced, deadlineโ€‘driven environment; selfโ€‘starter with a proven commitment to producing high quality work.
  • Team oriented, unquestionable honesty and integrity, intellectual curiosity, and dedication to providing clients with the best products.
  • Ability to deliver under pressure and meet deadlines effectively.
  • Postdoc experience in the immunology area is a plus.

Basic

  • Bachelorโ€™s degree required; PhD or business degree preferred but not required.
  • 1โ€“4 years of relevant experience.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
  • Ability to search, understand, and interpret scientific and medical publications and presentations.
Work Location

This role is expected to be in the New York office at least four days per week.

Compensation

Annual base salary between $100,000 and $140,000. The range reflects base salary only; total compensation may include incentive components.
