Job description

Job Type
Full-time
Description
Sales hunter looking for your next opportunity? Whether you're starting your career or you're an experienced sales professional, this is an opportunity to build a strong B2B sales career with significant upside - no HVAC experience required.
Encon has been serving commercial customers since 1969, and we're continuing to grow our business development team. We're looking for someone who enjoys opening doors, meeting new people, developing relationships, and winning new business. You may be a recent graduate with demonstrated sales potential or a seasoned professional with a track record of developing new accounts.
We'll teach you the technical side of HVAC - you bring the drive, confidence, and people skills.
This position is based out of our Milford office and serves the New Haven County market.
What You'll Actually Be Doing
This is a new-business development role. You'll prospect, meet with business owners and senior decision-makers, survey commercial facilities, develop proposals, and close customized HVAC maintenance programs designed around the needs of your customers and industry.
You'll work with your sales manager to develop a targeted list of approximately 500-800 qualified properties and then take ownership of developing that market. You'll have the autonomy to organize your territory, build relationships, and grow your book of business.
Once you close the business, our operations team takes it from there - your job is to hunt, develop relationships, and win new business.
Own an Industry Sector
Each member of our business development team is assigned an industry sector, allowing you to develop specialized knowledge, relationships, and a professional network within your market.
If you already have experience or established relationships within one of these industries, we'd like to hear from you.
Current opportunities include:
  • Medical & Healthcare
  • Education
  • Corporate Office Buildings
  • Commercial Real Estate / Property Management
  • Manufacturing & Industrial
  • Data Centers / Mission-Critical Facilities
  • Hotels & Hospitality
  • Pharmaceutical & Biotechnology
  • Food & Beverage Processing
  • Local Government / Municipal Facilities

Why Join Encon
  • A true hunter role - prospect, open doors, develop relationships, and close new business
  • Own an industry sector and build your own professional network and book of business
  • Manager-supported target development - we'll help you identify the right prospects and build your market
  • Autonomy to run your territory and organize your business development activity
  • Established company, entrepreneurial opportunity - build your business with the resources and reputation of a company serving customers since 1969
  • Paid HVAC and sales training - we'll teach you the technical side
  • Uncapped earning potential - earn a percentage of the sales you generate, on top of your base salary. As your sales grow, so does your compensation.

Requirements
What We're Looking For
  • Bachelor's degree required
  • A true sales hunter - energized by creating new opportunities, not simply managing existing accounts
  • Recent graduate, early-career salesperson, or experienced sales professional with demonstrated sales ability
  • Confident and persuasive in person and on the phone
  • Comfortable approaching and developing relationships with senior decision-makers
  • High emotional intelligence - reads people well, listens, and builds trust
  • Resilient, self-starting, competitive, and goal-driven
  • Willing to learn commercial HVAC - no prior HVAC experience required

Compensation & Benefits
  • Base salary: $60,000-$80,000 + incentives
  • Plus uncapped commission - earn a percentage of the sales you generate, on top of your base salary
  • Successful producers can earn $150,000+ in total annual compensation
  • $600/month vehicle allowance
  • Company gas card and company phone
  • Health, dental, and vision insurance
  • 401(k) with company match
  • Paid time off
  • Paid HVAC and sales training
  • Ongoing coaching and professional development
  • Clear path into senior sales or leadership roles

Eligibility Requirements
  • Valid driver's license required
  • Employment/education will be verified
  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis
  • Encon is a drug-free workplace and requires post-offer pre-employment drug testing
