Job description

About Us: Artera is an AI startup that develops medical artificial intelligence tests to personalize therapy for cancer patients. Artera is on a mission to personalize medical decisions for patients and physicians on a global scale.

Biostatistics / Fixed-Term / Remote U.S. or Canada

The Artera Graduate Biostatistics Program invites Master's- and PhD-level statisticians to gain hands-on experience applying biostatistics in the AI healthcare industry. During the 3-month program, Biostatistics Associates will contribute to real product development, clinical evidence generation, and AI model validation projects while receiving structured mentorship and on-the-job training from Artera's Biostatistics team.

As a Biostatistics Research Associate at Artera, you will work at the intersection of biostatistics, oncology research, AI model development, and clinical evidence generation. You will work closely with biostatisticians, data analysts, machine learning scientists, clinical operations, medical affairs, regulatory, and product teams to support statistical analyses and data workflows for high-priority oncology programs.

This is a hands-on, project-based role working with real-world clinical datasets and contributing to analyses that support AI model development, clinical validation, regulatory submissions, publications, conference abstracts, collaborator updates, and internal decision-making.
Essential Responsibilities:
  • Support clinical data intake, cleaning, and preparation of analysis-ready datasets for model development and clinical validation.

  • Conduct exploratory and statistical analyses for retrospective and prospective oncology studies.

  • Generate tables, figures, and summary outputs for internal review, publications, and regulatory submissions.

  • Reproduce, validate, and QC existing analyses under supervision.

  • Document analysis workflows and decisions to support reproducibility.

  • Collaborate with Biostatistics, AI, Clinical, Product, and Regulatory stakeholders.

Requirements:
  • Master's degree or higher in Biostatistics, Statistics, Epidemiology, Data Science, Public Health, or a related field.

  • Experience using R for statistical analysis.

  • Strong foundation in statistical methods and study design.

  • Ability to communicate clearly with technical and non-technical collaborators.

  • Ability to work independently on scoped analyses while incorporating feedback from senior team members.

  • Interest in applying biostatistics to healthcare, oncology, AI, or clinical product development.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with clinical, biomedical, oncology, pathology, genomics, imaging, real-world health, or clinical trial data.

  • Familiarity with survival analysis or regression modeling.

  • Experience with Python, SQL, or cloud compute environments.

  • Experience creating reproducible analysis workflows using R Markdown, Quarto, Git, or similar tools.

  • Experience supporting abstracts, manuscripts, scientific presentations, or collaborator-facing analysis deliverables.

  • Interest in AI/ML applications in healthcare.

Program Structure:
  • Duration: 3 months with a possibility of extension

  • Location: Remote work in the United States or Canada

  • Time commitment: Full-time

  • Mentorship: Associates will receive direct mentorship from Artera's Biostatistics team

Work Authorization Requirement:

This is a remote role open to candidates who are currently authorized to work either in the United States or in Canada without the need for current or future employment-based visa sponsorship. Artera does not sponsor visas for this position.

Eligible candidates may include:

  • Individuals authorized to work in the United States on a permanent basis, such as U.S. citizens or permanent residents; or

  • Individuals authorized to work in Canada, such as Canadian citizens or Canadian permanent residents.

$35 - $45 an hour
Compensation will be determined based on program duration, time commitment, candidate location, and level of training and experience.
Equal Employee Opportunity: At Artera, we value bringing together individuals from diverse backgrounds to develop new and innovative solutions for patients and physicians. As an equal opportunity employer, we do not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, national origin, age, sex (including pregnancy), physical or mental disability, medical condition, genetic information gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, marital status, protected veteran status, or any other legally protected characteristic.
