THE OPPORTUNITY
At Lingo, we're building a groundbreaking health platform that combines continuous biosensor data, real-time analytics, and personalized insights to help people live fuller, longer, and healthier lives. Our systems ingest millions of sensor readings daily, powering experiences for consumers and partners worldwide, with the reliability and scalability of cloud-native, enterprise-grade platforms.

We are looking for a Manager, Test Automation to help accelerate growth on a globally distributed team. In this role, you will lead the design, implementation, and scaling of our automated testing capabilities across our engineering organization, while managing and developing a test automation and quality engineering team. You will partner closely with Engineering, Product, and Data teams to ensure automated quality signals are fast, reliable, and actionable, and that our releases maintain a high bar for safety, reliability, and user experience. The role requires a hands-on leader who enjoys building automation, coaching engineers, and improving quality systems through pragmatic process and tooling.

You will own the test automation strategy across Lingo's platforms, mobile applications, CGM and biosensor data pipelines, AI/ML services, and the broader consumer platform. You'll help define what to automate, how to automate it, and how to integrate automation into CI/CD so teams can ship frequently with confidence. You will also manage and develop a team of automation and quality engineers, aligning execution across time zones with consistent standards, tooling, and reporting.

What You'll Work On

  • Lead a test automation team in a globally distributed environment, setting clear priorities, delivery plans, and a sustainable operating rhythm.
  • Design and evolve automation frameworks for mobile (iOS/Android), backend services, APIs, and data pipelines, with an emphasis on reliability, maintainability, and speed.
  • Integrate automated test suites into CI/CD pipelines to provide fast, actionable feedback and reduce time-to-detect regressions.
  • Establish automation coverage strategy (what to test where), quality gates, and release readiness criteria in partnership with Engineering and Product.
  • Own test data, environments, and tooling required to support continuous releases across mobile and platform surfaces.
  • Coach and develop engineers through code reviews, technical mentorship, and best-practice guidance for test design and automation patterns.
  • Partner with teams building biosensor/CGM ingestion and analytics to validate data integrity and reliability through automated checks and monitoring.
  • Support test-related compliance and audit readiness by producing clear, maintainable evidence from automated pipelines and structured test documentation.
  • Champion shift-left quality practices by helping teams bake testability into design and development workflows.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 10+ years in software quality, test automation, or software engineering, including 3+ years leading, managing, and developing engineers.
  • Strong hands-on experience building and maintaining automated test frameworks and infrastructure (not just running manual test teams), with the ability to guide architecture and standards.
  • Experience with mobile automation (iOS and/or Android) and testing consumer-facing applications at scale.
  • Experience with API and service-level testing, including contract testing and integration testing patterns.
  • Hands on experience building scalable automation frameworks (e.g., PyTest, Playwright, Jest, REST Assured)
  • Solid understanding of SDLC, QA methodologies, and compliance requirements such as HIPAA and GDPR.
  • Experience improving test stability and developer trust (e.g., reducing flakiness, optimizing runtimes, hardening test environments).
  • Ability to create automation roadmap, prioritize testing effort, and deliver outcomes through clear communication.
  • Working knowledge of regulated quality practices and documentation expectations (e.g., IEC 62304, ISO 13485, 21 CFR Part 820/11) or strong willingness to learn.
  • Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills, with the ability to align engineering teams and stakeholders on pragmatic quality goals.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting distributed teams across multiple time zones, with effective remote leadership and collaboration habits.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage stakeholders and drive alignment on quality gates, release readiness, and engineering productivity improvements.
  • Background validating data-intensive platforms (IoT, sensor data pipelines, streaming/real-time processing) using automated checks and monitoring.
  • Experience with AI/ML system testing concepts (model validation, drift detection, and testing for probabilistic outputs).
  • Experience with CGM, bio-wearable, or medical device software quality, particularly where hardware and software quality intersect.
  • Experience supporting Regulatory Affairs/Quality Assurance teams during audits by producing clear, traceable evidence from automated pipelines.
  • Background in non-functional testing (performance/reliability) tools such as Locust, JMeter, Gatling, or k6.
