Job description

Ark is building the worldโ€™s highest-fidelity bioprocess simulation software to help life-saving therapies reach patients faster. By democratizing complex AI x multi-physics models in an intuitive software interface, we are transforming how bioprocess scientists work.

With Ark, scientists can replace weeks-long, costly ($10Kโ€“$1M+) bioreactor experiments with simulations that run in seconds. This enables researchers to explore thousands more scenarios, accelerate time to market, and ensure more medical breakthroughs make it from the lab to the world. Weโ€™re ushering in a new era of digital bioprocessing.

About the role

This is the role for someone who loves being the person partners call when they're stuck, and loves being the reason they get unstuck.

As a Digital Bioprocess Specialist, you are the tip of the spear for Ark's partners. Part trusted guide, part rapid-response SWAT team, you parachute into our partners' hardest bioprocess problems, figure out what they're really trying to accomplish, and show them how to solve it in Ark's software, often faster and better than they thought possible. When a scientist at a top pharma company hits a wall, you're the one who turns their frustration into a "wow, I didn't know it could do that" moment.

You'll live at the intersection of bioprocess science, powerful digital tools, and trust-based relationships. Every day you'll translate real scientific challenges into models, spot the features a partner didn't know they needed, and expand the impact of Ark for pharma. If you're energized by hard problems, fast feedback loops, and making people successful, this role is built for you.

What youโ€™ll do
  • Be the SWAT team for the hardest problems. When a partner has a problem with no obvious answer, you deploy. You dig into the science, run experiments in the software, write code and scripts, and do the research to crack their toughest bioprocess challenges, then hand back a solution that just works.
  • Onboard and educate partners. Lead training, build walkthroughs and examples, and coach scientists from onboarding through confident, independent use of Ark.
  • Grow adoption by showing what's possible. You have a "have you tried this?" instinct. Always surfacing the next feature, shortcut, or use case that drives more value, makes partners' lives easier, and improves their outcomes.
  • Shape the product. You're the closest person to how pharma operates. Capture what partners struggle with and love, and work directly with Ark's PhD modelers and engineers to shape what we build next. Your insights become features.
About you
  • 3+ years of upstream bioprocess experience in biopharma or biotech.
  • Exceptional people skills. You're responsive, empathetic, and genuinely enjoy making others successful. People trust you quickly, and you understand the question behind the question.
  • Love driving impact. Passionate about translating hard-to-parse scientific and modeling results into actionable insights.
  • A numerical and data-driven mindset. fluent in Excel and have experience coding (e.g., Python or similar; vibe coding counts), able to reason quantitatively about models, data, and results.
  • Digitally native. Youโ€™re convinced the future is digital and are excited about living in the age of AI.
  • Detail-oriented and thorough. You get the specifics right, reproduce problems precisely, and close the loop every time.
  • Like to move fast.
Why this role
  • High ownership, fast learning. This role sits at the center of Ark and opens doors into product, modeling, technical leadership, or running the function as we scale. High performers here grow fast and take on ownership early.
  • Work on the frontier of the field. You'll get a front-row seat to cutting-edge AI x multi-physics simulation and hands-on exposure to how mechanistic and ML modeling actually get built and deployed.
  • Solve problems that matter, for people who matter. You'll tackle real bioprocess challenges for leading pharma and biotech partners, and your work will help life-saving therapies reach patients faster.
  • Surround yourself with A-players. You'll work shoulder-to-shoulder with PhD modelers, strong engineers, and designers who set a high bar and push each other to do the best work of their careers.
Position
  • Type: Full-time, exempt
  • Location: Cambridge, MA (in-person Mondayโ€“Thursday)
  • Travel: Short domestic and international trips (~2 nights per month)
  • Benefits: Health, dental, and vision coverage; holiday and vacation time; 401k matching; equity options; and opportunities for career growth and ownership as Ark scales.
