Established in 1926, Family Service League is a social services agency transforming lives and communities through mental health, addiction, housing, and essential human services with more than 60 social service programs in over 20 locations.

 

SCHEDULE

Per diem, day, evening and night shifts. Must have availability for all shift times.

 

SUMMARY

Family Service League is seeking a per-diem Registered Nurse for the DASH (Diagnostic, Assessment, and Stabilization Hub) Crisis Center. The DASH Crisis Center is a 24 hour per day, 7 day per week outpatient crisis stabilization program that includes a 24-hour crisis hotline and mobile response team. The Registered Nurse will be responsible for providing health assessments, health education, diagnostic testing, and medication administration. 


RESPONSIBILITIES

  • The Registered Nurse will provide nursing intervention, medical assessment and support to individuals experiencing a behavioral health (MH or SUD) crisis.
  • Function as a member of an interdisciplinary team.
  • Act as a team lead and be responsible for maintaining any inventory standards for meds.
  • The Registered Nurse will ensure the health and safety of staff and clients during emergencies.
  • Health monitoring and education/counseling.
  • Conduct urine toxicology screenings.
  • The Registered Nurse will administer and monitor oral medications and intramuscular injections.
  • Completion of all clinical documentation in an electronic medical record in accordance with NYS Office of Mental Health regulations.
  • Maintain infection control standards.
  • Attendance at routine supervision/team meeting.
  • Complete training and maintain proficiency in crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques.
  • Understand and demonstrate a commitment to Performance Quality (PQI)
  • Establish and maintain positive working relationships with others both internally and externally to achieve the goals of the organization.
  • Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Foster teamwork, work cooperatively and effectively with others to set goals, resolve problems and make decisions. 
  • Assess situations to determine importance, urgency and risks, and make clear decisions which are timely and in the best interests of the organization.
  • All other duties as assigned. 

 

QUALIFICATIONS

Associate’s Degree in Nursing required. Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing preferred.

Licensed and registered to practice nursing in the state of New York required. 

Minimum of 1 year of experience in an acute care, psychiatric setting, including experience with co-occurring disorders and/or chemical dependency required.

Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills required. 

Ability to problem solve, make clear decisions, and work as part of a team required. 

Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office required; experience with an Electronic Health Records preferred. 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

This position requires sitting for long periods of time.
