Senior Development Engineer - VB Vision
Location: Allendale, NJ or Leesburg, VA (Up to 15% Travel Required)

As a Senior Development Engineer - VB Vision in our R&D function within the Spine division, you'll play a key role in the development of advanced VB Vision platforms, working on mechanical and electro-mechanical components as well as the integration of surgical instrumentation with next-generation visualization and navigation technologies.
What You'll Do:
  • Interface with surgeons to gather clinical input, evaluate concepts, and translate customer needs into design requirements and specifications
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (R&D, Quality, Regulatory, Clinical, Marketing, and Project Management) to advance new product development projects from concept through commercialization
  • Design, develop, modify, evaluate, and verify mechanical and electro-mechanical components and subsystems for medical devices
  • Lead portions of product development projects and execute assigned workstreams with minimal supervision
  • Develop verification and validation strategies, execute testing, and generate supporting documentation in accordance with design controls
  • Participate in cadaver labs to evaluate product performance and usability
  • Develop prototypes and work with suppliers on design feasibility, DFM, and manufacturability assessments
  • Prepare and review technical documentation, including Design History File (DHF) deliverables, invention disclosures, and patent applications
  • Present technical work and recommendations in design reviews and cross-functional meetings
  • Support product transfer to manufacturing and commercialization activities
  • Apply strong engineering judgment to solve technical problems of moderate complexity

What You Bring:
  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline (Master's degree preferred)
  • 2+ years of product development experience (medical device industry strongly preferred)
  • Experience with spinal implants, surgical instruments, navigation, robotics, or electro-mechanical systems is a plus
  • Proficiency with CAD software (SolidWorks or Creo preferred)
  • Working knowledge of FDA design controls, risk management (ISO 14971), and regulated product development processes (ISO 13485)
  • Experience developing design requirements, verification plans, protocols, and reports
  • Ability to understand interactions between mechanical, electrical, and software subsystems
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment

Compensation:
Pay for this role is competitive and based on experience, qualifications, and performance. The typical pay range for this position is $100,000.00 - $110,000.00 annually, with potential for bonuses and incentives plus benefits. Final compensation is determined on a case-by-case basis and considers a variety of factors including experience level, technical expertise, and market conditions.
