POSITION SUMMARY
Biomedical Equipment Technician is to support PMI/ECME medical equipment readiness at a designated Air Force PMI Center. The position performs inspection, preventive and corrective maintenance, calibration, diagnosis, repair, software updates, inventory support, and maintenance documentation for patient-movement medical and support equipment. Work for this location will be at Scott AFB, IL / JB Andrews, MD / Travis AFB, CA / Wright-Patterson AFB, OH / Kadena AB, Japan / Yokota AB, Japan / Ramstein AB, Germany.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Perform incoming and initial inspections, scheduled preventive maintenance, electrical/safety testing, calibration, diagnosis, and repair of medical and support equipment.
  • Maintain ventilators, infusion pumps, patient monitors, defibrillators, aspirators, oxygen equipment, wound-vac systems, generators, environmental control units, and other PMI assets as assigned.
  • Complete accurate DMLSS work orders, preventive-maintenance history, parts status, calibration due dates, and equipment condition records; support PMI-ATS data accuracy.
  • Perform approved IM/IT software updates, apply barcodes/labels, support inventory, and coordinate OEM or depot repair when required.
  • Pack, unpack, move, clean, decontaminate, re-kit, and stage equipment for worldwide shipment and return-to-service operations.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Three or more years of biomedical/medical equipment maintenance experience in a military, hospital, clinical engineering, depot, or warehouse environment.
  • Associate degree or military/technical-school training in biomedical equipment technology, electronics, engineering technology, or equivalent experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to use test instruments, schematics, service literature, and safe troubleshooting practices to calibrate, diagnose, and repair equipment.
  • Experience documenting maintenance in DMLSS or a comparable CMMS/work-order system.
  • Current BLS certification or ability to obtain it before contract start.
  • Current Tier 3 investigation with Secret eligibility and enrollment in Continuous Vetting; ability to obtain and maintain interim or final Secret access, CAC, system access, and required Government training.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • USAF PMI Center, ECME, patient movement, DMLSS, PMI-ATS, AFMAN 41-209/41-216, or war-readiness materiel experience.
  • CBET, OEM equipment training, CompTIA A+, forklift qualification, or experience with generators and environmental control units.

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND CONDITIONS
  • Full-time, onsite position at the stated PMI Center during local Government core hours; Task 2 telework is not authorized because the work requires physical access to equipment and warehouse operations.
  • Work may include standing, bending, lifting and moving equipment, warehouse activities, packing and unpacking, equipment cleaning, use of hand and test tools, and operation near material-handling equipment.
  • The role may require short-notice schedule changes, mission-essential reporting, and CONUS/OCONUS travel. Overseas positions require satisfaction of applicable host-nation, relocation, and SOFA eligibility requirements.

This function is designated mission essential and may require reporting during weather emergencies, restricted-access periods, continuity events, or other mission-driven conditions.
