 Job Duties:

 As a Product Development Engineer-I at 3form, you will be part of a dynamic team responsible for developing cutting-edge architectural materials and products. Working closely with more senior engineers and designers, you will contribute to the entire product development lifecycle, from concept ideation to final production. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams on new product development and product improvement projects. This responsibility would span over all 3form material, hardware, and lighting product lines.
  • Assisting in the exploration of technologies, concepts, and innovative products within the R&D team.
  • Conducting research and analysis to identify opportunities for product improvement and problem-solving applications.
  • Providing technical product expertise for existing platforms to support the sales team and internal partners.
  • Contributing to infrastructure improvement efforts within the Product Development Team.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining design specifications, CAD models, testing data, CTQs, and documentation for finished products and raw materials.
  • Contribute to the development of product standards, quality specifications, and process controls for new products.
  • Support identification of tooling, equipment, and infrastructure needs for product development and material characterization.
  • Assist in developing test methods and executing prototyping, testing, and validation activities.
  • Collect, analyze, and document product performance data to support validation and ensure alignment with defined CTQs.
  • Supporting 3form's sustainability mission by identifying and developing sustainable product opportunities.

Other Engineering Responsibilities:

  • Designing components utilizing various manufacturing technologies.
  • Working closely with vendors and purchasing in the sourcing and production of prototypes and inventoried products.
  • Managing projects and timelines from conceptual ideas to completed, documented, and ready-to-sell products.
  • A hands-on approach to leading the installation and testing of products in development.
  • Demonstrate the ability to work independently, seeking guidance and support when needed while maintaining momentum on projects. Assume responsibility for project milestones, deadlines, and deliverables, ensuring timely and successful completion.
  • Adapt quickly to compressed timelines and changing project priorities, demonstrating flexibility and resilience in fast-paced environments.
  • Maintain a proactive and adaptive approach to project management, adjusting plans and priorities as needed to meet evolving business needs.
  • Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, leveraging diverse perspectives and expertise to drive creative solutions and deliver on-time results.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Material Science Engineering (other engineering degrees may be considered depending on experience).
  • 2-4 years of professional experience in product design, polymer characterization, and development of architectural components or systems.
  • Strong design sensibility, creative talents, and natural technical curiosity.
  • Demonstrated hands-on development, prototyping, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Sound understanding of structural mechanical design and manufacturing techniques.
  • Proficiency in Solidworks; knowledge of Rhino 3D and Adobe CC is a plus.
  • High level of comfort in data sets and data analysis (Tableau, PowerBI, Excel)
  • Ability to work well in a small team environment and adapt to the dynamic nature of the company.
