Job description

Chemistry Lab Technician Laboratory Operations Flagstaff, AZ
We are seeking a self-motivated Chemistry Lab Technician to join our Laboratory Operations team. In this role, you will assist with analysis of biological specimens including urine and oral fluid (saliva). This position is also responsible for operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting automated chemistry instrumentation.
Shift: M-F 2pm - 11pm
Pay Rate: $21.00 per hour
Shift Differential: Additional $2.00/hour for hours worked between 6:00 PM and 6:00 AM
Primary Responsibilities
  • Load specimens using automated chemistry instrumentation
  • Assist with instrument calibration, quality control (QC) review, and initial analytical review
  • Documenting all preparations to fulfill compliance requirements
  • Performs routine operations including start of the day equipment initiation including verification of calibrations, controls, reagents and reagent levels
  • Prepare and restock reagents and buffers as needed
  • Reviews test results for release. Documents discrepancies, exceptions and unusual trends. Research and rectify errors
  • Assist with maintaining adequate inventory of laboratory supplies
  • Maintain accurate records associated with specimen preparation, including proper chain of custody handling and storage requirements
  • Follow all safety protocols, PPE requirements, and decontamination procedures
  • Maintain strict safeguards related to Protected Health Information (PHI)

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in a science-related field required (Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biology, Microbiology, Biomedical/Pre-Med, Forensics, or Toxicology)
  • Laboratory experience preferred
  • Data entry skills (alpha and numeric keyboarding) required
  • Strong hand-eye coordination required
  • Ability to work in a high-volume environment while maintaining a high level of quality and accuracy required
  • Ability to stand for extended periods, lift up to 25 lbs, bend, and carry as needed
