Job Purpose and Function:In this key role the Sales Manager manages the day-to-day activities of the HPNE Sales team. The Sales Manager is responsible for the overall customer satisfaction and retention. The Sales Manager is in charge of managing organizational sales by developing business plans, meeting planned goals, and coordinating with HPNE's marketing department on lead generation. The Sales Manager is responsible for overseeing the activities and performance of the sales team by tracking sales goals, setting individual sales targets, and facilitating the ongoing training of HPNE salespeople.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:The responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Provides leadership to the sales team planning and directs the hiring and training of new sales representatives
  • Directing and coordinating all sales activities
  • Consults with potential customers to understand their needs; identify and suggest products, or services that will meet those needs
  • Preparing sales budgets and projections and approving expenditures
  • Tracking and analyzing sales statistics based on key metrics
  • Handling and resolving customer complaints regarding a product or service
  • Acts as company representative at trade association meetings
  • Advising distributors and dealers on policies and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)

Knowledge/Skills/Experience:
Each organization shall have sufficient personnel with the necessary education, background, training, and experience to ensure that all activities required by this part are correctly performed and shall establish procedures for identifying training needs and ensure that all personnel are trained to adequately perform their assigned responsibilities. Training shall be documented.
Required Skills and Abilities:
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent sales and customer service skills with proven negotiation skills
  • Strong supervisory and leadership skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software

Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in a science (Biology, Biochemistry or Chemistry) or engineering area preferred
  • 7 + years of sales experience required
  • 5 + years of sales leadership experience required

Physical Requirements:
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Travel to client sites - day and overnight travel
  • Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds at times
