Job description

Position Summary
The Department of Biological Sciences at Hampton University invites applications for an Adjunct Professor Pool to teach Microbiology, Anatomy & Physiology, or Introductory Biology, beginning August 2026. We seek a dynamic educator committed to excellence in undergraduate teaching and supporting students from diverse backgrounds.
Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be expected to:
  • Teach undergraduate lecture and/or laboratory courses in Introductory Biology, Microbiology, and/or Anatomy and Physiology
  • Prepare course materials, deliver instruction, and assess student learning in alignment with departmental expectations
  • Employ effective, student-centered, and inclusive teaching practices
  • Support student success through timely communication, availability to students, and professional engagement with the department
  • Maintain accurate course records and submit grades in accordance with university deadlines
Qualifications
Required:
  • Master's degree in Biology or a closely related field, or a master's degree with at least 18 graduate hours in Biology or the relevant teaching discipline
  • Demonstrated commitment to excellence in undergraduate teaching

Preferred:
  • PhD in Biology or a closely related field
  • Prior college-level teaching experience in Introductory Biology, Microbiology, Anatomy and Physiology, or related areas
  • Evidence of student-centered and inclusive teaching practices
  • Experience teaching students from underrepresented groups in STEM

Salary is based on student enrollment.
