Job Summary
The Body Donor Coordinator works under general supervision of the Associate Dean of Biology to support the efficient, compliant, and effective coordination of body donor operations across Salt Lake Community College (SLCC) campuses. A significant responsibility of this position is overseeing body donors (i.e. cadavers) used at SLCC for educational purposes, ensuring their ethical, legal, and respectful handling throughout all phases of use. This includes coordinating logistics and needs with all SLCC departments that use body donors, managing compliance with regulations, maintaining accurate records, and serving as the primary liaison with the University of Utah Body Donor Program. The Coordinator also oversees all part-time staff, campus interns, and volunteers within the department, provides primary phone and in-person support for the Biology Department office at Jordan Campus, and assists with outreach events. This position is primarily based at the Jordan Campus but requires regular travel between campuses and occasional travel to off-site locations.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities & Knowledge Skills & Abilities
Essential Duties
  • Body Donor Program Liaison and Compliance: Serve as the primary liaison between SLCC and the University of Utah Body Donor Program, coordinating body donor acquisition, transport, compliance, and disposition across all SLCC departments that use body donors, including Biology, Physical Therapy Assistant, Occupational Therapy Assistant, and Mortuary Science. Ensure ethical, legal, and respectful handling of body donors at every stage, including compliance with the Uniform Anatomical Gift Act. Maintain accurate and complete inventory records, evaluate and approve requests involving body donors, and maintain confidentiality of body donor records in accordance with applicable privacy regulations and institutional policies. Respond to inquiries from faculty, staff, and external parties regarding body donor availability, policies, and procedures, routing complex requests to appropriate contacts as needed.
  • Part-Time Staff, Campus Intern, and Volunteer Management: Oversee all part-time staff, campus interns, and volunteers in the Biology Department, including anatomy laboratory aides, part-time secretaries, and work-study students. Train anatomy laboratory aides and volunteers on body donor regulations, ethical handling standards, and compliance requirements related to the Uniform Anatomical Gift Act. Manage the full employment lifecycle for part-time staff and campus interns.
  • Departmental Phone and Student Support: Serve as the primary person to answer external phone lines for the Biology Department office, providing responsive support to students and resolving department inquiries, including issuing prerequisite overrides and addressing course-related questions. Respond to inquiries regarding body donor availability, policies, and procedures, routing complex requests to appropriate contacts as needed. Maintain confidentiality of student records in compliance with FERPA.
  • Outreach Support: Assist in planning outreach events and the undergraduate research conference (UP3RC), including recruiting and coordinating volunteers. Represent the Biology Department professionally during campus and community events and serve as a departmental resource for questions related to the body donor program and its educational role at SLCC.

  • Knowledge of the Uniform Anatomical Gift Act and ethical standards governing the educational use of human body donors, or demonstrated ability to learn and apply this specialized regulatory framework.
  • Ability to learn, interpret, and apply regulatory requirements and institutional policies in compliance-driven and ethically sensitive contexts.

  • Ability to abide by ethical standards when working with confidential student information in compliance with FERPA.
  • Ability to demonstrate professionalism and represent the Biology Department during campus and community outreach events.
Technology
  • Skilled proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Teams, Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Experience with Banner for student information management including enrollment and prerequisite overrides.
  • Experience with Etrieve for records and document management.
  • Experience with Canvas in support of course-related operations and student aide coordination.
  • Ability to maintain accurate, sensitive, and confidential records and documents in a secure manner using appropriate institutional systems.

Minimum qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Health Administration, Human Resources, Education, Communication, Social Work, Business Administration, Biology, Psychology, or a closely related field.
  • Two (2) to five (5) years of full-time equivalent paid work experience in a relevant field.
  • Education and work experience may be substituted one-to-one.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with procurement contracts with outside entities, budgets, payroll processing, and hiring.
  • Familiarity with regulatory compliance in an academic or healthcare-related environment.
  • Knowledge of or experience with human body donor programs.
  • Experience working in a higher education setting.
