Job description

Overview
New York Medical College (NYMC) is seeking a Laboratory Assistant for the Department of Cell Biology and Anatomy in the El Ouaamari laboratory. We are looking for candidates with strong interest in neuroscience and energy balance. Supervised by the Principal Investigator (PI), the ideal candidate will assist in conducting experiments and analyzing/interpreting data. The laboratory assistant will assist in obtaining quotes, purchasing laboratory supplies and maintaining reagent stocks. The laboratory assistant will assist in the maintenance of the mouse lines and mouse genotyping, and other duties as assigned.
Responsibilities
  • Assist the Principal Investigator (PI) with experimental design, execution, data collection, and interpretation.
  • Assist the PI in the maintenance of mouse lines and mouse genotyping.
  • Responsible for ordering supplies and day-to-day lab budgeting.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Education requirment: Bachelors in science is preferred but not required.
  • Highly motivated and a strong team player with the ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Highly interested in Neuroscience.
  • Knowledge of standard concepts, good laboratory practices, and procedures.
  • Aptitude for quick learning and multi-tasking.
  • Good oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
