Position Highlights The laboratory of Dr. Xia Xiao at the College of Medicine-Phoenix is looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Research Technician II to aid in a research project focused on the metabolic regulation of iron and liver diseases using various mouse models. The successful candidate will join a multidisciplinary team within the setting of an outstanding new facility with capabilities in imaging, flow cytometry, bioinformatics, and other advanced approaches. The position is part of a well-funded research program and will provide the opportunity to produce high-impact publications. The candidate should have basic experience performing research in a biomedical laboratory setting, and experience in rodent handling will be advantageous. The candidate should be detail-oriented, conscientious, able to follow instructions, and have the ability to communicate in a clear, concise manner verbally and in writing. Duties & Responsibilities - Works under the supervision of the PI and perform day-to-day experiments of tissue culture, DNA, RNA, protein isolation/analyses, cloning DNA constructs, and mouse experiments.
- Record results in the laboratory notebooks or data folders.
- Communicate all results to the PI in a timely manner and plans for the follow-up experiments and troubleshooting
- Participates in the preparation of technical reports, summaries, protocols, and data figures.
- Assist with the set up of standard laboratory operations.
- Organize and manage laboratory resources including research reagents and laboratory equipment.
- Facilitate the maintenance and repair of laboratory equipment.
- Assist with orientation and training of new lab personnel.
- Provides routine and technical administrative support to lab operations.
- Write and update standard lab operating procedures and protocols.
- Oversee RLSS compliance for all lab members.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:- Ability to communicate in a clear, concise manner orally and in writing.
- Ability to set up and perform a variety of lab or field tests and operations.
- Experience with recording results, making observations, analyzing data, and interpreting test results.
- Research Knowledge and experience (internship, independent study).

Minimum Qualifications - High school diploma or high school diploma equivalency is required.
- Three (3) years of relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
Preferred Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in Biology or related field.
- Molecular biology experience.
- Experience with rodent surgery.
