Job description

Job Description
The Bioinformatician functions as a bioinformatics collaborator who applies bioinformatics expertise to the design, implementation, analysis, interpretation, and reporting of research and clinical genomics studies. The work is performed under the supervision of a Senior Bioinformatician or Principal Bioinformatician. Possesses skills and knowledge in a variety of bioinformatics and computational biology tools and techniques to analyze genomics, proteomics and metabolomics data (omics technologies). Also possesses good programing skills to develop novel analytical tools as needed by projects. Additional optional skills include basic knowledge of statistical methodology. Administrative duties: accurately keep track and record time spent on projects. Maintain documentation of projects with a level of detail enabling the handoff to other bioinformatics staff members.
This is a limited tenure position that has been approved for one year that may have the possibility of turning into a regular position.
This vacancy is not eligible for sponsorship/ we will not sponsor or transfer visas for this position. Also, Mayo Clinic DOES NOT participate in the F-1 STEM OPT extension program.
Additional Information:
Advanced Skills and Responsibilities: The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong understanding of automated AI and bioinformatics pipelines, including the ability to evaluate, implement, and support new and experimental software packages for informatics and imaging workflows. This role requires intellectual curiosity and motivation to expand expertise into emerging, data-focused domains as project needs evolve. The candidate will also bring a proven track record of successful technical customer service and consulting, partnering effectively with investigators and stakeholders to translate complex computational approaches into practical, research-ready solutions.
Qualifications
Master's in bioinformatics or a similar field with an emphasize on analytical omics expertise. Good written and oral communication skills are required. Expertise in the use of informatics computing and data management packages. Ability to prioritize, organizes, and delegates various tasks on projects. Frequently demonstrated initiative in administration, education (seminars, training), software development, technical reports. Demonstrated success in project management and communication skills. A commitment to customer service with an attitude of owning the experience of each customer is required.
