Able to lift 40 lbs. without assistance, Adherence to all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) Safety Standards, Cleanroom: no hair products, jewelry, makeup, nail polish, perfume, exposed piercings, facial hair etc... allowed, Cold Room/Freezers -22degreesF/-6degrees C, Laboratory Setting, No contact lens allowed; prescriptive glasses will be provided, Some degree of PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) required (safety glasses, gowning, gloves, lab coat, ear plugs etc.), Strong Odors (chemical, lubricants, biological products etc.), Will work with hazardous/toxic materials

DESCRIPTION:
Join our team at Thermo Fisher Scientific as a Scientist I, Formulation, where you'll make meaningful contributions to products that help make the world healthier, cleaner and safer. In this role, you'll perform formulation and manufacturing activities in a GMP/ISO-regulated environment, working with state-of-the-art equipment and technologies. You'll execute manufacturing protocols, troubleshoot processes, maintain detailed documentation, and collaborate across functions to ensure high-quality output. This position offers opportunities to drive continuous improvement while working in a team-oriented setting focused on safety, quality and operational excellence.
REQUIREMENTS:
• Bachelor's Degree preferred with no prior experience in pharmaceutical/biotechnology manufacturing, formulation development, or related laboratory work
• Preferred Fields of Study: Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biology, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Engineering or related scientific field
• Demonstrated expertise in aseptic techniques and GMP manufacturing practices
• Strong knowledge of laboratory equipment, analytical methods and instrumentation
• Proficient in documentation practices and batch record completion
• Experience with quality systems and regulatory compliance (GMP, ISO)
• Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail
• Strong organizational and time management skills
• Proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and laboratory software systems
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work while wearing required PPE
• Ability to work flexible hours including possible shift work
• Demonstrated commitment to workplace safety protocols
• Knowledge of data analysis and basic statistical methods
• Willingness to learn new techniques and adapt to changing priorities
Compensation and Benefits
The hourly pay range estimated for this position based in Virginia is $23.26-$34.88.
This position may also be eligible to receive a variable annual bonus based on company, team, and/or individual performance results in accordance with company policy. We offer a comprehensive Total Rewards package that our U.S. colleagues and their families can count on, which includes:
