Maintenance Technician School PulletsOpal Foods is accepting applications for the position of Maintenance Technician for our Iowa Falls Pullet Farm in Iowa Falls, IA. This position is responsible for performing preventive maintenance and repairs on machinery while maintaining compliance with all company policies and governmental regulations including safety, bio-security and animal welfare requirements. This position will work in the pullet houses and must be able to work in a live animal/farm environment. This position will also assist the Pullet Manager with other projects and duties as needed.Position Responsibilities:Keep equipment running and operating safely and efficiently by maintaining and repairing machinery and mechanical equipment such as electric motors, pneumatic systems, and conveyor systemsPerform preventive and urgent maintenance of production machinery and equipmentDiagnose problems, replace or repair parts, test and make adjustmentsTake a proactive approach to issue resolution including root cause analyses and error proofing controls related to down timeUse a variety of hand and power tools, electric meters and material handling equipment to perform dutiesUse front end loader to move litterDetect faulty operations, defective material and report those and any unusual situations to proper supervisionComply with safety regulations and maintain clean and orderly work areasPhysical Requirements of a Maintenance Technician:Fast paced work environmentLift fifty or more pounds on a regular basisBend, lift, pull, push, stoop, bend and climbWork in a general farm environment around live animals; must be able to tolerate a dusty environmentRequirements: (knowledge, experience, skills, education)Mechanical and electrical aptitude and troubleshooting skillsPrevious experience troubleshooting equipment, performing preventive maintenance and repairing industrial processing equipmentFront end loader/Forklift certificationOrganized and detail orientedWilling to work off schedule shifts and/or nights when necessaryPreferred Qualifications:2 years of experience in maintenance related rolesAbility to communicate in English and SpanishAbout Opal Foods: Opal Foods was formed in 2014 and is a partnership between Rose Acre Farms and Weaver Brothers.
