Job description

Position: Hand Bindery Associate Department: Bindery Location: Acworth, GA Position Type: Full-Time Pay Status: Non-Exempt Effective: AUGUST 2026 DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Follows instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job. Supports Bindery Operators on various machinery, equipment and performs any combination of tasks involved in finishing books, periodicals, and pamphlets.

Assembles related printed materials in accordance with work order specifications. Punches holes in paper sheets, manually or by machine, creases and compresses signatures prior to affixing covers by hand. Fastens sheets, signatures, or other printed materials together, using hand or machine stapler, adjusts or tends machine that inserts wire or plastic binding strips into punched holes to fasten pages and covers together.

Handles and packs printed material in various stages of completion in boxes and on pallets as it accumulates on delivery table of machines. Examines stitched, collated, bound, and unbound publications to make certain that pages are bound in numerical or folio order according to sample copy, and for such defects as imperfect bindings, ink spots, torn, loose, and uneven pages, and loose and uncut threads. Inserts pages, extra sheets, and collated sets into catalogs, periodicals, directories, pocket portfolios, or loose-leaf binders, and inserts sheets and applies labels to envelopes or periodicals by hand or machine.

Wraps product in plastic, using shrink-wrapping machinery, packs products in boxes, and tapes lids of boxes shut. Assemble materials for shipment and ensure proper labeling and packaging. Operate basic bindery equipment, cutters, folders, stitchers, as needed.

Cleans Bindery and work area around machines as needed.
