Job description

Bin Unloader

We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Bin Unloader to join our food production team. The Bin Unloader is responsible for safely and efficiently unloading potato bins and supplying the production lines with a consistent flow of raw products. This role ensures that potatoes are handled gently to maintain quality standards while keeping the packaging operation running smoothly. The position requires attention to detail, awareness of product quality, and adherence to food safety procedures.

Education:

High school diploma or equivalent

Experience & Skills:

  • 1-2 years of experience in Warehouse or Production environment
  • Ability to follow instructions and safety procedures
  • Positive attitude and team player
  • A high degree of flexibility and willingness to work overtime as required, including evenings and weekends
  • Ability to lift up to 50lbs repetitively/ability to stand for long periods of time during the workday
  • Willingness to work in cold, humid, or dusty conditions at times.

Principal Responsibilities:

  1. Operate bin-unloading equipment to empty potato bins into hoppers, conveyors, or receiving systems
  2. Monitor flow of product to avoid line jams, overfills, or equipment blockages.
  3. Gently handle products to minimize bruising or damage.
  4. Visually inspect potatoes for foreign material, excessive dirt, rot, or defects before loading.
  5. Identify and remove out-of-spec product when necessary.
  6. Report quality concerns to the Production Supervisor, QA, or Line Lead immediately.
  7. Follow all food safety protocols, including GMPs, hygiene requirements, and contamination prevention.
  8. Keep the bin unloading area clean and organized throughout the shift.
  9. Support sanitation activities, including end-of-shift cleaning of equipment and surrounding areas.
  10. Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, or bin-handling equipment if certified.
  11. Perform basic equipment checks at start-up and report maintenance issues promptly.
  12. Follow lock-out/tag-out and safety procedures when clearing jams or stopping equipment.
  13. Maintain a safe work environment by following company safety rules and wearing required PPE.
