Your Opportunity
Stantec GS is seeking a BIM Technician to join their Engineering team. The ideal candidate will understand mechanical and electrical systems (Sheetmetal, HVAC, Piping, Plumbing, and Electrical Systems). Working with Engineers and Designers, you will create and organize standard document content, and support the preparation of projects, plans, drawings, details, and specifications in accordance with Stantec standards, client standards, specifications, and building codes.
Your Key Responsibilities
  • Actively participate in the design of building mechanical (HVAC and Plumbing) and electrical (Power and Lighting) systems for projects in the industrial and military sectors.
  • Coordinate with engineering and architectural disciplines to ensure accurate and clash-free model integration.
  • Develop, manage, and maintain Revit models, templates, and content libraries for electrical and mechanical systems.
  • Collaborate with project teams to create and implement BIM Execution Plans (BEPs) and project standards.
  • Coordinate mechanical and electrical designs, models and drawings packages with other engineering/architectural disciplines as part of the complete design solutions.
  • Identify discrepancies in models, drawings and information and resolve through appropriate methods and channels.
  • Collaborate with BIM managers for rollout of corporate BIM Standards and for aligning of BIM delivery goals
  • Mentor and train technologists in MEP Revit and BIM best practices.
  • Provide technical competency on the modeling of mechanical systems such as HVAC systems, ductwork, piping and waste piping and electrical systems such as lighting, power, life safety, and communication systems.
  • Participate in design coordination and BIM coordination meetings with internal and external project stakeholders.
  • Participate in the tendering and construction phases of the project as required to support the consultant's role on the project.
  • Perform field reviews to support the design phase and verification of construction during project execution.
  • Support the development and documentation of new BIM standards, protocols, and quality control procedures.
  • Stay current with emerging BIM technologies and trends to support continuous improvement in digital project delivery.

Qualifications
Your Capabilities and Credentials
  • Comprehensive understanding of BIM processes and standards for building mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Relevant experience working on mechanical and electrical building projects with specific experience in design and modeling/drawing development for building HVAC, plumbing, drainage and electrical systems.
  • Advanced proficiency in Autodesk Revit MEP, Navisworks Manage, and Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC/BIM 360).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and additional BIM-related tools including Bluebeam is preferred.
  • Strong working knowledge of mechanical and electrical design principles, construction documentation, and interdisciplinary coordination is an asset.
  • Ability to coordinate multidisciplinary BIM models and resolve technical and spatial conflicts effectively.
  • Strong problem-solving, organizational, and time management skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts clearly.
  • Experience in large-scale industrial or military projects preferred.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, specifically in accuracy of calculations and completeness of data.

Education and Experience
  • Certificate or diploma from technical college
  • 2-3 years of relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience in the architectural/engineering/contractor industry.
  • Must have experience working on HVAC and Plumbing drawings and models

About the Team
Pay Transparency: In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.
Benefits Summary: Regular full-time and part-time employees (working at least 20 hours per week) have access to medical, dental, and vision plans, a wellness program, health saving accounts, flexible spending accounts, 401(k) plan, employee stock purchase program, life and accidental death & dismemberment (AD&D) insurance, short-term/long-term disability plans, emergency travel benefits, tuition reimbursement, professional membership fee coverage and paid family leave.
