Regional BIM/VDC Manager

Calgary, AB | Virtual Design & Construction (VDC) / BIM | Full-Time

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Regional BIM/VDC Manager to lead Building Information Modeling (BIM) and Virtual Design & Construction (VDC) initiatives across multiple projects in the region. This role combines technical BIM/VDC expertise with project leadership, requiring someone who can oversee digital construction workflows, manage client relationships, and guide cross-functional teams from preconstruction through project closeout.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader who thrives in a fast-paced construction environment, bridges the gap between field operations and digital technology, and is comfortable representing the company in front of clients and stakeholders across a region.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee BIM/VDC strategy and execution across multiple concurrent projects within the region
  • Manage and mentor a team of BIM/VDC coordinators and modelers, providing technical guidance and professional development
  • Support estimating and RFQ (Request for Quote) processes by providing accurate quantity takeoffs, model-based estimates, and digital project data
  • Develop, implement, and maintain BIM execution plans (BEPs) in alignment with project and client requirements
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients on all BIM/VDC-related matters, building and maintaining strong working relationships
  • Coordinate clash detection, 4D/5D modeling, and constructability reviews to identify and resolve issues before construction
  • Standardize digital construction workflows, tools, and best practices across regional project teams
  • Collaborate with project managers, superintendents, architects, and engineers to ensure seamless integration of BIM/VDC processes into overall project delivery
  • Monitor industry trends and emerging technologies, recommending tools and process improvements to keep the region at the forefront of digital construction
  • Provide regular reporting on BIM/VDC performance, project status, and team utilization to senior leadership

Requirements

  • 8–10 years of combined experience in BIM/VDC and construction
  • Minimum of 3 years in a leadership or project management capacity
  • Demonstrated experience with estimating and RFQ processes
  • Strong, in-depth understanding of digital construction workflows (BIM modeling, coordination, clash detection, 4D/5D)
  • Proven ability to lead teams, manage multiple priorities, and deliver results across a region
  • Strong client relationship management skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Experience overseeing multiple projects simultaneously across different sites or locations
  • Proficiency with industry-standard BIM/VDC software (e.g., Autodesk Revit, Navisworks, BIM 360/ACC, AutoCAD, or similar)
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field (or equivalent experience)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional certifications such as Autodesk Certified Professional, CM-BIM, or similar
  • Experience working across multiple market sectors (commercial, healthcare, industrial, etc.)
  • Familiarity with lean construction principles and prefabrication workflows
