Job description

Position Overview

The Billing Operations Analyst serves as the primary technical and data partner to the Billing Operations Specialist within Advyzon Investment Management. While the Specialist drives operational execution, fee calculations, and partner reconciliations, the Billing Operations Analyst bridges the gap between daily operations and software engineering.

This hands-on technical role is responsible for maintaining and enhancing custom billing applications, building direct data pipelines across PostgreSQL databases, and developing user-facing interfaces to automate billing workflows. By leveraging a tech stack that includes Vue.js, Ruby on Rails, C# .NET, and PostgreSQL, the Analyst ensures operational efficiency, system reliability, and robust data integrity across multi-custodian workflows.

Key Responsibilities
  • Technical Partnership & Workflow Automation: Partner directly with the Billing Operations Specialist to identify manual friction points, map billing logic, and engineer scalable system fixes and automation scripts.
  • Full-Stack Application Support & Development: Maintain and enhance internal billing tools and UI features using Vue.js, backend microservices and APIs in Ruby on Rails and C# .NET.
  • Database Architecture & Data Analytics: Write, optimize, and maintain complex PostgreSQL queries, scripts, and views to process high-volume custodial data, perform automated fee reconciliations, and research systemic data discrepancies.
  • Integrations & Custodian Data Pipelines: Build and support data ingestion pipelines and API connections for multi-custodian fee files, payment instructions, and account metadata.
  • System Testing & QA Validation: Design and execute technical test plans for new billing feature releases, backend algorithm changes, prorations, and system integrations to guarantee zero calculation errors in production.
  • Process Improvement & Tooling: Champion the adoption of modern software patterns, automation, and AI-driven tools to enhance data validation, exception monitoring, and audit tracking.
  • Cross-Functional Technical Coordination: Act as the technical liaison between Operations, Finance, Product, and Core Software Engineering teams to translate complex business rules into technical architecture specifications.
Qualifications Technical Skills:
  • AI-Assisted Development & Productivity Tools: Demonstrated experience leveraging AI coding tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, Cursor, ChatGPT, or similar LLM-driven coding assistants) to accelerate development workflows, automate unit test generation, debug complex codebases, and optimize database queries efficiently.
  • Backend Development: Hands-on software development experience with Ruby on Rails and/or C# .NET for API integrations, batch processing, and business logic execution.
  • Frontend Development: Working knowledge of Vue.js (or similar modern JavaScript frameworks like React/Angular) for updating and building internal operational dashboards and user interfaces.
  • Database / SQL: Strong proficiency in PostgreSQL (or similar relational databases), including writing complex joins, stored procedures, query optimization, and schema management.
  • System Integration: Experience working with RESTful APIs, JSON/XML data formats, and batch file integrations (e.g., SFTP, custodial data feeds).
Experience & Domain Knowledge:
  • Education & Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Analytics, Information Systems, Finance, or a related field, with a minimum of 2-4 years of technical experience in financial operations, fintech, or data engineering.
  • Financial Services Exposure: Familiarity with advisory fee billing, portfolio accounting, multi-custodian platforms, or financial reconciliation logic is strongly preferred.
Soft Skills & Competencies:
  • Analytical Problem-Solving: Ability to untangle complex data discrepancies across multiple databases and legacy systems.
  • Collaborative Mindset: Exceptional communication skills with a proven track record of acting as a technical translator for business and operations partners.
  • Detail-Oriented & Rigorous: High standards for code quality, data accuracy, and automated testing in production environments.
