What You’ll Do

The Medical Biller is responsible for accurate and timely billing of clinic, physician, and facility services to insurance companies and government payers. This role researches and follows up on claims, maintains payment records, and supports other business office functions.

  • Review, verify, and complete ICD-10 coding and prepare third-party billing for GRHD services.
  • Submit and follow up on claims with insurance companies, Medicare, and Medicaid, including researching and resolving denied or rejected claims and submitting appeals as needed.
  • Maintain accurate payment records, compile amounts owed, and assist with account collection and follow-up.
  • Prepare and review accounts for cost reports and provide support to Account Representatives and other business office functions as needed.
  • Cross-train in other business office positions and perform a variety of tasks and other duties as assigned.

Who We’re Looking For

The ideal candidate is detail-oriented and experienced in medical billing, with strong communication skills and the ability to manage multiple payer requirements. Critical Access Medicare/Medicaid billing experience is highly preferred.

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred; post-high school coursework in a related field preferred.
  • One year of experience in third-party insurance billing preferred; Critical Access Medicare/Medicaid billing experience highly preferred.
  • Knowledge of third-party billing requirements and experience billing facility and professional claims electronically and by hard copy preferred.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, professionalism, maturity, and ability to work effectively with others.
  • Ability to type at least 35 words per minute and operate a personal computer and related office systems. Must achieve proficiency within six months of hire in HealthStream, Kronos, Instamed, Meditech, Experian/SSI, Galactica, Medicaid Portal, Allscripts ED, Allscripts PM, Allscripts Touchworks, LTC, and FISS.
