Job description

Job Summary:

The Company is looking for a bi-lingual (Japanese/English) Controls Engineer to join our Thermal Engineering team. The Controls Engineer will use their knowledge in control systems, automation, and instrumentation to optimize industrial processes, enhance operational efficiency, ensure safety and reliability, and drive technological innovation across various processes. This position will use their Japanese/English bilingual language skills to communicate with global teams for technology strategies and alignment.

The Controls Engineer Will:

- Develop control system architectures, including hardware and software components, based on project requirements and specifications. 

- Design and implement control algorithms, such as PID controllers, state-space controllers, or advanced control techniques, to achieve desired system performance. 

- Write, debug, and test control software, including PLC programs, HMI applications. 

- Diagnose and troubleshoot control system issues, identify root causes of problems, and implement corrective actions to ensure reliable operation.

- Stay updated with advancements in control system technologies, industry trends, and best practices through self-directed learning, training programs, and participation in professional organizations.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

- 3+ years experience equipment engineering in a controls engineer function.

- Must be proficient in both spoken and written Japanese and English

- Must possess a blend of technical expertise, problem-solving skills, collaborative abilities, and a commitment to continuous learning to design and implement innovative control solutions that meet the needs of diverse industries and applications.

- Ability to adapt to new PLC and automation systems

- Good project management skills, including multi-tasking, prioritizing, managing time effectively. Must have ability to diagnose and troubleshoot fundamental technical issues and provide step-by-step technical help.

- Good listening, verbal, and written communication, along with presentation skills.

- Ability to work collaboratively and build relationships with teammates, customers, and partners.

- Ability to communicate complex technical issues to both technical and non-technical audiences in person, via phone, or email.

- Exceptional interpersonal and customer service skills.

- Intermediate skills in MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, and Excel)

Education: Bachelors or better in Engineering or related field.
