JOB TITLE:                                      Bilingual Interpreter Translator

SCHOOL:                                          Parkland Middle School

REPORTS TO:                                 Building Principal

CERTIFICATION                           Current and Valid Paraprofessional License

REQUIREMENTS:                                      

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:       180 Days Full Time M-F

START DATE:                                 2026-2027 School Year

 MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIRED SKILLS

  1. Current and Valid Paraprofessional License; 60 college credit hour or Work Keys Test/other ISBE requirement for obtaining Paraprofessional License.
  2. Fluency in Spanish language required in both reading and writing.
  3. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely.

RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: 

  1. Assist teachers, parents and office by interpreting and translating communication between school and home: may include contacts, conferences, office communications and home visits.
  2. Ability to work as a cooperating member of a team and effectively communicate with students, teachers, parents and administration; Positive attitude and dependability a must.
  3. Communicate effectively both orally and in writing, in English and Spanish.
  4. Translate announcements, forms, and notices as directed by the immediate supervisor.
  5. Demonstrates an appreciation and understanding of multicultural perspectives in student learning and the school community.
  6. Other duties assigned.

PAY AND BENEFITS

  1. $17.50/hour. The District can provide additional credit to candidates who have prior work experience.
  2. Full health insurance program with major medical.
  3. Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund (IMRF Pension).
  4. Paid time off.
