Bilingual Collection Supervisor information

What is a bilingual collection supervisor?

Bilingual Collection Supervisors are professionals responsible for overseeing a team of collections agents who contact customers to recover overdue payments, while effectively communicating in two or more languages. They ensure that collection activities comply with relevant laws and company policies, provide guidance and training to staff, and may handle escalated cases. Their bilingual abilities enable them to serve a diverse customer base, improve communication, and facilitate successful debt recovery efforts.

What skills and qualifications are needed to thrive as a bilingual collection supervisor?

To thrive as a Bilingual Collection Supervisor, you need expertise in debt collection processes, leadership abilities, and fluency in at least two languages, typically supported by a degree in finance, business, or a related field. Familiarity with collection management systems, CRM software, and knowledge of relevant legal regulations are commonly required. Strong interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills help you motivate teams and communicate effectively with diverse clients. These skills ensure compliance, maximize recovery rates, and foster positive relationships with both team members and clients.

What are common challenges faced by bilingual collection supervisors, and how can they effectively address them?

Bilingual Collection Supervisors often encounter challenges such as managing a diverse team, handling complex customer interactions in multiple languages, and ensuring compliance with regulations across different regions. To address these, supervisors benefit from strong communication and organizational skills, ongoing training on cultural sensitivity, and staying updated on relevant legal requirements. Effective use of technology and regular team meetings also help streamline processes and maintain high performance in a multilingual environment.

About Coastal Waste & Recycling
At Coastal Waste & Recycling, we're building more than a company, we're building a team. As one of the fastest-growing privately held waste and recycling companies in the Southeast, we're looking for people who take pride in their work, put safety first, and are ready to grow with us.
Help Keep Our Communities Moving
Do you enjoy working outdoors, staying active, and being part of a team that makes a difference every day? As a Collection Specialist, you'll play an essential role in keeping our communities clean by partnering with a Driver to safely collect waste and recyclable materials while delivering exceptional service to our customers.
At Coastal Waste & Recycling, every collection team member plays an important role in our success. We believe safety comes first, teamwork drives results, and every route is an opportunity to serve our customers and communities with pride.
Your Role
As a Collection Specialist, you'll work alongside a Driver to safely and efficiently complete collection routes while promoting a culture of safety, accountability, and teamwork. You'll help ensure every stop is completed safely by serving as the Driver's spotter during all backing maneuvers, identifying potential hazards, and supporting efficient route completion.
What You'll Do
  • Partner with a Driver to safely collect residential, commercial, and industrial waste and recyclable materials.
  • Safely lift, move, empty, and load carts, containers, bags, and other collection receptacles into collection vehicles.
  • Serve as the Driver's spotter during every backing maneuver by exiting the vehicle, positioning yourself safely, and providing continuous visual guidance until the backing maneuver is complete.
  • Maintain awareness of traffic, pedestrians, overhead obstructions, and other potential hazards while helping ensure safe operations throughout the route.
  • Assist with pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections and report equipment or safety concerns.
  • Provide friendly, professional customer service while interacting with customers and the public.
  • Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) and follow all company safety policies and procedures.
  • At Coastal, we win as a team. Once your assigned route is complete, you'll jump in to assist other collection teams or support additional operational needs as directed by management.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

What You'll Bring
  • Strong work ethic and dependable attendance.
  • Commitment to safety, teamwork, and customer service.
  • Ability to perform physically demanding work in an outdoor environment.
  • Ability to frequently lift, push, pull, and carry materials weighing 50 to 75 pounds or more.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with coworkers, supervisors, and customers.
  • Previous experience in waste management, construction, landscaping, warehouse operations, moving services, or other physically demanding work is a plus.
  • Valid driver's license preferred but not required.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish or English/Creole) preferred.

Why You'll Love Working Here
  • Competitive Pay
  • Comprehensive Medical, Dental & Vision Benefits
  • 401(k) with Company Match
  • Paid Time Off & Holidays
