Job description

We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead large-scale commercial and data center infrastructure projects focused on structured cabling, rack infrastructure, and telecommunications systems. This role is responsible for overseeing projects from pre-construction planning through close-out while ensuring safety, quality, schedule, and budget objectives are achieved.

The ideal candidate is highly organized, client-focused, and experienced managing complex buildouts and Guaranteed Maximum Price (GMP) contracts in mission-critical environments.

Location: Ashburn, VA
Compensation: $110,000–$150,000 (based on experience) + Relocation Assistance

Key Responsibilities

Pre-Project Planning

  • Participate in the RFP process including detailed reviews of plans, specifications, and bid forms
  • Review contracts and work orders for accuracy, scope, and changes
  • Build and maintain strong customer relationships to support business growth opportunities

Project Start-Up

  • Serve as the primary client interface to assess scope, scheduling, and resource requirements
  • Coordinate with Operations teams to ensure labor, materials, and equipment availability
  • Develop mobilization and resource plans for project execution
  • Oversee acquisition and deployment of required equipment and site resources

Project Execution & Management

  • Manage project schedules to control costs and meet contractual obligations
  • Coordinate subcontractors, vendors, internal teams, and customer stakeholders
  • Lead progress meetings and provide customer status reports
  • Support change order management processes using client-required systems and tools
  • Monitor field installation activities to ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget
  • Partner with QA/QC teams to ensure adherence to quality standards and client specifications
  • Track job costs, profitability, schedules, and SLA compliance through internal systems and reporting tools
  • Represent the company during client meetings, conference calls, and project reviews

Project Close-Out

  • Coordinate project close-out documentation and turnover activities
  • Ensure customer acceptance and project signoff
  • Assist with accounts receivable processes when required

Leadership & Continuous Improvement

  • Coach and mentor team members while promoting a Lean culture
  • Support continuous improvement and operational excellence initiatives
  • Stay informed on emerging technologies and industry best practices

Qualifications

Required

  • High school diploma or GED required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in commercial construction and/or data center project management
  • Experience managing large-scale telecommunications or structured cabling projects
  • Proven experience overseeing projects valued at $1M+
  • Strong understanding of structured cabling systems, safety standards, and quality requirements
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and customer service skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in fast-paced environments
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, Visio, etc.)
