Employment Type: Full-Time
Reports To: Lead Installer / Project Manager / Site Superintendent

Position Summary

The BICSI Certified Level II Installer is responsible for the installation, termination, testing, and documentation of structured cabling systems in accordance with BICSI standards, TIA/EIA guidelines, and project specifications. This role supports mission-critical infrastructure by ensuring high-quality, compliant, and reliable telecommunications systems within active data center environments.

Key Responsibilities

Structured Cabling Installation

  • Install copper and fiber optic cabling systems (backbone and horizontal)

  • Terminate CAT5e, CAT6, CAT6A, and fiber optic cables (single-mode and multi-mode)

  • Install pathways including cable trays, conduits, J-hooks, ladder racks, and raceways

  • Install and dress cables in racks, cabinets, patch panels, and enclosures

Testing & Quality Assurance

  • Perform cable testing and certification using approved test equipment (e.g., Fluke testers)

  • Troubleshoot and resolve connectivity and performance issues

  • Ensure all work meets BICSI, TIA/EIA, NEC, and client standards

  • Maintain clean, organized, and labeled installations

Documentation

  • Accurately label cables, racks, panels, and termination points

  • Complete test results, as-built drawings, and installation documentation

  • Report progress, issues, and material needs to site leadership

Safety & Compliance

  • Follow all site safety rules, OSHA standards, and company policies

  • Maintain a safe and organized work area at all times

  • Use proper PPE and tools for all tasks

Team Collaboration

  • Work closely with Level I Installers, Lead Installers, and other trades

  • Assist with training and mentoring junior installers as needed

  • Coordinate with site supervision to maintain schedule and quality

Required Qualifications
  • Current BICSI Certified Level II Installer credential

  • 3+ years of experience in structured cabling or low-voltage installations

  • Strong working knowledge of copper and fiber optic systems

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and scope documents

  • Experience with cable testing and certification equipment

  • Familiarity with NEC, TIA/EIA, and BICSI standards

Preferred Qualifications
  • Data center or mission-critical facility experience (strongly preferred in Ashburn market)

  • Experience with fiber splicing and termination

  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification

  • Manufacturer certifications (CommScope, Panduit, Corning, etc.)

Physical & Work Requirements
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
