The Machine Operator has the qualifications and business acumen to provide support by setting up and monitoring the rewinder machine to ensure efficient production.

Responsibilities
  • Make the proper precautions to perform work responsibilities in a safe manner.
  • Arrive on time, prepared, and motivated to contribute.
  • Perform winder operation support responsibilities independent of supervision.
  • Work alongside winder operators to uphold Magnera's quality standards.
  • Troubleshoot issues with the wrapper and conveyor and communicate them clearly with the maintenance team.
  • Train others in the proper protocols and procedures.
  • Use a forklift safely as needed to perform job duties.
  • Use a crane safely as needed to perform job duties.
  • Properly set cores and operate the core puller.
  • Demonstrate the ability to uphold Magnera quality standards by performing metal sweeps, sweeping dust, removing waste, etc.
  • Assist during the start-up of the paper machine by ensuring the start-up cart has a roll and is in proper position and help feed paper through the pope.
  • Assist with other positions (bico, hammermill, or operations material handler) as needed.
  • Assist with monthly Planned Maintenance Optimization (PMO) shutdowns.
  • Participate in product changeovers.
  • Perform additional tasks directed by Winder Operators, Shift Supervisor, Driver, or Management.
  • Use OptiVision to perform job functions such as scanning rolls, entering weight, and printing labels.
  • Abide by all Magnera Mount Holly standards.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • 3 years manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Previous forklift operation preferred.
  • Ability to read and take units of measurements for weight, volume, distance, etc.
  • Competent in computer abilities.
  • Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work flexible 12-hour shifts following a 14 day pattern of 2 days on, 2 days off, 3 days on, 2 days off, 2 days on, and then 3 off.
  • Physical ability to regularly bend over and lift 40 pounds and push/pull up to 1000 pound cylindrical paper rolls.
  • Physical ability to stand for the majority of the 12-hour shift.
