What is a Bible graphic designer?

Bible Graphic Designers are professionals who specialize in creating visual designs and layouts for materials related to the Bible, such as illustrated Bibles, study guides, church bulletins, and religious educational resources. They use their artistic skills and knowledge of graphic design software to communicate biblical messages in an engaging and visually appealing way. Their work often includes designing book covers, page layouts, infographics, and digital media that enhance the understanding and accessibility of biblical content.

What skills and qualifications are needed to be a Bible graphic designer?

To thrive as a Bible Graphic Designer, you need strong graphic design skills, a solid understanding of Christian iconography, and proficiency in typography, usually supported by a degree in graphic design or a related field. Expertise in design software such as Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) and familiarity with print production processes are typically required. Creativity, attention to detail, and effective communication are essential soft skills for interpreting scriptural themes and collaborating with clients or publishing teams. These skills ensure the creation of visually compelling, accurate, and meaningful designs that effectively convey biblical messages.

How does a Bible graphic designer collaborate with editors and theologians during a project?

A Bible Graphic Designer often works closely with editors and theologians to ensure that the visual elements accurately reflect and enhance the intended message of the text. Regular meetings and reviews are common, where designers present concepts and receive feedback to maintain theological accuracy and readability. This collaboration ensures that design choices, such as typography, imagery, and layout, align with scriptural interpretation and publishing standards. Clear communication and adaptability are essential, as revisions may be required to best support the spiritual and educational goals of the project.

Job description

Graphic Designer I

Hybrid (Ames, IA) · Part-Time

Fight Temptation. Defend the Faith. Remember Truth.

About Bible Memory Project

Bible Memory Project exists to help Christian’s store up God’s Word in their heart. We produce a variety of products dedicated to helping people memorize Scripture. We began as a subscription service that delivers monthly packages straight to subscribers' doors. Each package centers around wristbands inscribed with the first letter of each word in a memory verse — for example, "Bible Memory Project!" becomes “B M P !” — helping subscribers memorize Scripture one verse at a time. Every wristband is part of a larger themed series, such as The Fruit of the Spirit, The Armor of God, or The Story of Redemption, so that every subscriber is memorizing the same verses on the same theme together. Bible Memory Project also creates custom project wristbands for churches, ministries, and schools.
