Job Summary
The Michigan Medicine Financial Systems team provides the leadership, oversight, and technical support for the suite of financial products, applications, and datasets used by the Finance Organization of Michigan Medicine for financial reporting, planning, analytics, and decision making. The team is responsible for delivering on-time enterprise-level reporting and business intelligence systems, managing concurrent high-visibility projects to support new initiatives, guiding data stewardship, and informing and supporting institutional enterprise objectives.
The Financial Systems Development team focuses on financial and operational strategic reporting initiatives, continuous improvement efforts within our environment, and technical support for organizational reimbursement and billing models. Responsibilities include all aspects of developing enterprise-level reporting solutions.
The Solutions Architect position is responsible for designing and administering enterprise-level reporting solutions, integrating cloud-hosted reporting applications, data warehouses, and critical organizational business processes. This position is responsible for analyzing and translating business, information, and technical requirements into enterprise-level reporting solutions. This role is responsible for researching and maintaining knowledge of current and emerging technologies to solve business problems with a focus on cloud-hosted solutions. Problem solving and developing integrated solutions within a complex, varied, and evolving technical landscape will be an essential part of this position. This role will propose changes in process, policy, standards, application, and data model design to peers and leadership. In addition, this position will partner with key stakeholders and leadership in requirement gathering and solution design, as well as work with vendor technical teams, enterprise architecture, application, and infrastructure teams, to deliver enterprise reporting solutions.
In performing the role, the Development Solutions Architect will need to possess strong technical knowledge and experience with relational database models, SQL, and multiple Oracle technologies, including Oracle Cloud Analytics and Cloud EPM applications. This role will require a strong understanding of finance, accounting, and health care business practices.
Responsibilities*
Technical Programming and Application Administration of Strategic Initiatives and Development 50%
  • Responsible for the design and maintenance of data models within our relational data warehouse. Develops data modeling and is responsible for data acquisition, access analysis and design, archiving, recovery, and load strategy design and implementation
  • Responsible for application administration and configuration to support all strategic initiatives and development for the following Michigan Medicine Financial Systems cloud-hosted applications:
    **Finance BI (Oracle Cloud Analytics application used for decision support across Michigan Medicine Finance)
    **Multiple Oracle Enterprise Performance Management (EPM) Cloud Applications
  • Designing enterprise-level reporting solutions that integrate our cloud-hosted reporting applications and data warehouse
  • Responsible for maintaining and improving upon a reporting landscape design that is complex and varied in nature
  • Integrates new and modified ETL processes with other Financial System processes with a focus on accuracy, efficiency, and automation
  • Possesses and applies a broad knowledge of principles, practices, and procedures of Financial Systems data sets.
  • Research and maintain knowledge of current application releases and emerging technological capabilities with a focus on cloud-hosted solutions in order to provide optimal business solutions.
  • Work with vendor technical teams, internal enterprise architecture, and application infrastructure teams to resolve technical issues and understand systems dependencies and compatibility
  • Research and address system vulnerabilities.

Documentation, Validation, and Governance 15%
  • Prepares and conducts comprehensive testing and validation procedures
  • Oversight of documentation, training, compliance, and handover to the production team for implementation
  • Participate in the administration of business and project plans related to development initiatives

Advisory and Strategic Development 25%
  • Propose changes in process, policy, standards, application, and data model design to peers and leadership
  • Problem solving and troubleshooting within a complex, varied, and evolving technical landscape
  • Identify and evaluate industry trends and advise leadership on the impact on our environment
  • Work proactively to assess risks or changes affecting our environment and determine appropriate action plans to manage changes
  • Utilize agile methodologies to define project scope and schedule while focusing on regular and timely delivery of value

  • Items may include, but are not limited to:
    **Conducting peer and end-user training
    **Support special projects within Financial Systems as well as Michigan Medicine Finance

Required Qualifications*
  • BA/BS degree
  • 1-5 years of experience and detailed knowledge of SQL (Intermediate)
  • 5-7 years of experience and detailed knowledge of SQL (Senior)
