Responsibilities
  • Perform structural engineering assignments under the direction of a licensed engineer with clear and specific objectives
  • Provide leadership, mentorship, and technical support to structural design teams
  • Assist with the preparation of structural engineering projects including analysis and design of railroad and highway bridges, reinforced concrete design, structural steel design, prestressed concrete design, deep and shallow foundation analysis and design, development of plans, specifications, and estimates, retaining walls, and other structural elements
  • Application of basic techniques, theories, precepts and practices in small and large structural engineering projects
  • Occasionally travel to gather offsite field data

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or related field
  • Must have passed the FE Exam; current and valid registration as an Engineer-in-Training (EIT)
  • 2+ or more years of experience working with structural engineering, specifically with the design and analysis of bridges
  • In-depth knowledge of the American Association of State Highway Transportation Officials (AASHTO) Load and Resistance Factor Design (LRFD) Bridge Specifications and American Railway Engineering and Maintenance-of-Way Association (AREMA)
  • Experience with Production/Task Management to include quality control, documentation management, and consistency in meeting deadlines
  • Experience with STAAD or alternate structural engineering modeling software, MDX, CSi Bridge, Bridge Link and Bentley Engineering products is a plus
  • State DOT experience is a plus
  • Willingness and ability to do light to moderate travel in efforts to collect field data offsite
  • Willingness and ability to work in various weather conditions as required
