Brief Role Description

Animation and Visualization Design Fellowship

6 month minimum commitment. Unable to consider International Students on OPT/CPT.

Role Summary

Our mobility concept and user experience team is planning and executing holistic future vehicle concept proposals for the VW Group. The fellow will become familiar with learning a hybrid workflow between digital/physical developments which are being brought to life through concept visuals. Support in visualization work and crafting compelling stories through user journeys and interactive experiences in an additional part of the program.

  • Support in creating user journeys, user stories, customer use cases. 
  • Support the VR/MR team to enhance the visual quality and realism of the experience.
  • Support presentations for internal ICC and Group Innovation stakeholders, at Group Innovation annual Future Mobility Days internal trade show, and potentially as external promotion material for communication purposes.
  • Understanding and communicating with concept development and automotive design team.
  • Support CAD modeling team with data prep, and model build optimized for animation.
  • Create animated and visual storyboards for future concepts.
  • Create environments and realistic sceneries based on needs of different mobility concepts.
  • Character rigging and animation.
  • Post-production of animations including graphics, sound and other visual effects.
Qualification requirements

Qualifications

  • Study Focus: BFA Animation & Visual effects or Entertainment design, or BSC in transportation Design.

  • Rising Senior in a Bachelors or Masters program, or recent grad.
  • Must be enrolled at a University/College or Graduation date must be within the last six months.
  • Must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0.(Transcripts required when applying)
  • Inspired to visualize holistic future mobility concepts.
  • Self-motivated, flexible individual with high degree of ownership and accountability for results.
  • Analytical and conceptual thinking - using logic and reason, creative and strategic.
  • Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams as the technology lead for the domain.
  • Understanding of the CG pipeline & workflow.
  • Strong presentation and communication skills.

Required Software Skills

  • 3D package (Maya, Blender, Vray); Compositing & Video editing (Photoshop, After Effects, Premiere Pro).

Desired Software Skills

  • Alias, VRED, Unreal, Unity
Compensation Data

In Belmont, California, the hourly rates for this role are based on level of education:

  • Undergraduate (Junior or Senior): $35/hour
  • Graduate (Master's): $38/hour
  • PhD: $42/hour
