Job description

Upland is seeking an experienced and passionate Beverage Manager to join our dynamic team. Located at the corner of Park Avenue South and 26th Street, Upland is a Michelin Guide restaurant known for its California-inspired menu crafted by talented Chef JP Matheussen. With a culinary philosophy rooted in seasonality, our food and beverage program reflect a thoughtful, ingredient-driven approach.

About the Role:

The Beverage Manager works collaboratively with our Corporate Wine and Beverage Directors and plays a critical role in delivering a sophisticated and thoughtfully curated beverage experience—highlighting high-quality ingredients, mixology, and a well-composed wine list. They serve as the in-house beverage expert, actively engaging with guests through service, making thoughtful recommendations, gathering feedback, and supporting and leading the service team to ensure an exceptional guest experience. The Beverage Manager is also responsible for leading all aspects of beverage purchasing, inventory management, and cost control, ensuring the program is both high-quality and financially sustainable.

This position offers a comprehensive package including:

Qualifications:

  • 3–5 years of experience managing a high-volume, quality-focused beverage program
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
  • Deep knowledge of European and American wines, with a special emphasis on Italian varietals
  • Knowledge of spirits, cocktail development, and modern mixology techniques
  • Familiarity with POS systems, inventory systems, CTUIT, OpenTable/Resy
  • A collaborative, team-oriented mindset with a desire for continuous learning and growth
