Job description

Job Purpose The Beveller Operator is under the direction of the Mill Supervisor, shall be a vital component in the operation group. The Beveller will focus on operating machinery responsible for facing and beveling tubular in accordance to work order specification sheets.

Duties & Responsibilities • Constantly represent the company core values in a positive and professional manner • Maintain a positive and professional attitude daily with all employees and supervisors • Operate machinery responsible for facing and beveling tubular in accordance to work order specification sheets. • Prepare and size bevellers with tooling based on wall thickness and OD in reference to work order specification sheets. • Receive tubular from conveyor and operate machinery to move pipe onto beveling table safely and efficiently to maintain line speed without interruption to production. • Perform routine preventative maintenance each morning to ensure machines are prepared for daily work and operating as designed. • Maintain active inventories of beveling tools, holders, and associated equipment. Communicate inventory items to Crew leader so proper tools and holders can be stocked to assure uninterrupted production. • Utilizing calibrated gauges inspect bevel to ensure the tubular has been machined to work order specifications. Will be responsible for documentation of these inspections and daily submission to crew leaders. • Report any non-conformances to crew leader that are outside of work order specifications and stop the line immediately to ensure proper quality. • Maintain a clean and safe work environment surrounding machinery. Daily cleaning of chips, pits, and metal hoppers. Communicate with crane operator when hoppers are full and need to be emptied. • Maintain proper operation of chopper pit and machinery. Inspect blades daily and communicate any that need to be changed. Communicate with forklift operator when hopper needs to be emptied. • Maintain proper operation of blowout nozzles, air lines, and conveyor line. Ensure scarf is removed in pit prior to moving down exit conveyor. • Responsible for any additional job duties assigned by crew leaders / shift supervisors that are not outlined in this job description. Will be responsible for assisting other areas when needed to ensure uninterrupted production. • Perform ad-hoc tasks, and other duties as assigned.

Qualifications / Competencies Education/Experience • High school diploma or GED preferred but not required. Competencies • Mechanical aptitude • Able to read and follow work instructions, work order specifications, quality procedures, safety procedures, and work station manuals. • Adhere to quality and safety policies without supervision • Basic computer skills and touch typing • Punctual and ability to show up to work each day and on-time in reference to shift schedule. Ability to work weekends, holidays, night shift, and extended work hours. • Ability to stand, kneel, crouch, sit, climb for entire shift requirements • Ability to move and/or lift 25lbs frequently and ability to move and/or lift 50 lbs occasionally.

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements • During operations employee will be exposed to moving machinery, parts, and metal shavings • Extreme noise and decibel readings that will require double ear protection • Exposure to fumes, airborne particles, caustic chemicals, and extreme weather conditions. • Loose-fitting clothes and jewelry are not permitted on site. • Ability to see 20-20 when corrected. • Ability to identify and distinguish colors.
