This role is designed for a remote work environment, allowing counselors the flexibility to balance work with personal responsibilities. However, candidates must be familiar with the outpatient setting to effectively engage with clients, staff, and families alike. Working hours are structured within a regular schedule from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday, which fosters a consistent routine beneficial for both practitioners and clients.

• Conduct thorough mental health assessments to evaluate the emotional and psychological needs of elderly clients and tailor individual care plans accordingly.
• Facilitate both individual and group counseling sessions that directly address the complex emotional challenges associated with aging, including grief, loneliness, and the stress of life transitions.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary healthcare teams—including physicians, social workers, and other mental health professionals—to devise holistic care strategies aimed at improving patient outcomes.
• Provide education and resources to families, caregivers, and staff on effective methods to enhance the emotional health and overall well-being of elderly individuals.
• Implement specialized programs like cognitive stimulation and reminiscence therapy, which are designed to stimulate mental abilities and promote social interaction among elderly clients.

Your primary focus will be on seniors dealing with a range of mental health challenges, from coping with loss to managing chronic stress and anxiety. The individuals you serve may also face social isolation and cognitive decline, requiring tailored interventions that respect their unique life stories and cultural backgrounds.

• A Master's degree in Mental Health Counseling from an accredited institution is essential.
• Current and valid Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) status is mandatory.
• A proven track record with a minimum of 4 years of recent experience in geriatric mental health counseling, focusing on therapeutic methods suitable for older adults.
• Specialized training in geriatric mental health and familiarity with aging-related issues is highly desirable.
• Demonstrated ability to conduct comprehensive assessments and develop personalized treatment plans.
• Strong communication skills, with a compassionate approach to connecting with elderly clients and their families.

• Experience in providing bereavement counseling and facilitating grief support groups.
• Knowledge of evidence-based interventions that have been successful in elderly mental health treatment.
