Job summary:

The Facilities Manager will oversee all building-related activities. Being responsible to ensure all infrastructure and facilities are safe and functioning in proper working order.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Four (4) years of experience as facilities manager or relevant position
  • Well-versed in facilities management best practices
  • Excellent leadership skills with demonstrated ability to effectively lead a team
  • Experience developing and implementing comprehensive project plans
  • Ability to:
    • Pass a drug screening and State of Alaska background check
    • Qualify for SFA commercial automobile insurance


Skills required:

  • Knowledge of basic project management including budgeting and expanding principles
  • Excellent written, verbal and organizational skills
  • Punctuality and consistent reliability in reporting to work
  • Ability to:
    • Lead a team of custodial and facilities maintenance professionals
    • Represent the mission and values of Set Free Alaska to the staff and community
    • Make leadership decisions within the scope of responsibilities as set forth in Set Free Alaska's policies and procedures
  • Basic computer skills and fluid use of communication tools
  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, climb ladders, reach, push, pull, and lift or carry up to 75 pounds as required to perform facility inspections and operational duties.


Job responsibilities:

  • Hire, evaluate and supervise staff including, but not limited to: performance monitoring, assistance in developing growth goals, training...
  • Own the day-to-day operations and oversight of facilities, equipment, and supplies, ensuring buildings are safe, functional, well-maintained, and compliant with health and safety standards, including hands-on support when needed
  • Provide oversight of facility projects, including assessing needs, obtaining and evaluating bids, determining when work should be handled internally or referred to qualified contractors, and ensuring work is completed appropriately
  • Oversee agency-wide safety drills and ensure they are scheduled, completed, and documented in accordance with established requirements
  • Inspect buildings, structures, and building systems to identify maintenance, repair, safety, and renovation needs and determine appropriate priorities
  • Review facility expenses, including maintenance and supplies, and identify opportunities to control costs while maintaining safe and functional facilities
  • Oversee facility operations and services, including parking, waste disposal, building security, access, and other essential facility functions
  • Provide health and safety guidance and ensure facilities operations comply with applicable regulatory requirements
  • Facilitate, conduct, and document Safety Committee meetings and follow through on identified facility and safety needs
  • Schedule, manage, and participate in the facilities on-call rotation, responding to issues, triaging problems, and coordinating appropriate internal or external resources as needed
  • Travel to various Set Free facilities (up to 40% travel expectation)
