What you'll be doing

CIBC's Payments business is an innovative and fast-growing area of the bank, focused on delivering leading solutions for our clients. Within Payments, Global Transaction Banking (GTB) is a strategic Capital Markets business that includes Corporate Cash Management, Global Banks Coverage, Correspondent Banking, and Trade & Working Capital Finance. As an Associate, Data Science, you'll work closely with front office teams to advance GTB's data and analytics capabilities in support of Payments and Capital Markets priorities. You'll develop a strong understanding of the business to identify data-related opportunities, source and analyze structured and unstructured data, and help simplify data flows from source to consumption. You'll also design scalable data and artificial intelligence (AI) use cases that support better decision-making across products, services, and client segments globally. In this role, you'll make a meaningful impact by helping turn data into actionable insights that drive business value.

How you'll succeed

  • Data strategy and innovation - Support the development of GTB's data and AI strategy by helping translate data and AI capabilities into business value. You'll contribute to frameworks that organize and integrate GTB data, modernize infrastructure and processes, mitigate data-related risks, and support scalable analytics and AI solutions across business priorities.

  • Business insights and strategic analysis - Deliver actionable insights that support GTB's business strategy and performance objectives. You'll analyze portfolio performance, pricing, net interest margin (NIM), liquidity metrics, and client activity to help inform business planning and decision-making across regions, industries, and segments.

  • Product and process optimization - Identify opportunities to improve product performance, pricing effectiveness, and the overall client value proposition. You'll help streamline reporting, automate recurring analysis, and enhance analytics that support key GTB use cases, including proactive monitoring of client activity and market events.

  • Collaboration and partnership - Build strong relationships with partners across Sales, Treasury, Product, Risk, and Technology, and collaborate effectively with external clients and partners where needed. You'll communicate complex analytical concepts in a clear, practical way and align stakeholders around data-driven solutions.

  • Team contribution and development - Contribute to a collaborative, high-performing team environment through knowledge sharing, problem solving, and continuous improvement. You'll provide thoughtful input and support initiatives that align with GTB's broader objectives and long-term success.

Who you are

  • You can demonstrate experience. You bring 5+ years of experience in data science, analytics, or a related field, ideally within financial services, transaction banking, payments, or capital markets.

  • You have a degree. You have a degree and/or certification in Data Science, Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, Economics, Commerce, Business Analytics, Artificial Intelligence, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.

  • You can demonstrate strong technical capability. You bring experience across data and analytics disciplines, including data engineering practices, business intelligence, cloud-based data services, statistics, and programming languages such as Python and SQL. It's an asset if you have experience with visualization tools such as Power BI.

  • You give meaning to data. You enjoy investigating complex problems and making sense of information. You communicate detailed information in a meaningful way and turn analysis into clear, actionable insights.
