Job Summary:
The Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services is seeking a Sr. Data Visualization Engineer to leverage technology in improving the health and well-being of vulnerable populations. The role involves delivering data and dashboards, collaborating with data consumers, and ensuring data literacy within the organization.
Responsibilities:
• Delivers data, reports and dashboards with the key performance indicators and metrics needed to make business critical decisions and drive business results .
• Builds strong working relationships with data consumers to understand the link between data requests and business process decisions.
• Works with data consumers and subject matter experts (SMEs) to understand business rules behind available data to enable proper interpretation for metrics.
• Perform data cleaning and transformation
• Analyze, interpret, and compile large amounts of data to find impactful insights that drive decision-making.
• Create, execute or analyze basic test scenarios to verify that client requirements are built into system design.
• Partner with business and technical stakeholders to be a champion of change and for data literacy for the organization.
• Aid in the creation and maintenance of documentation of data artifacts to ensure smooth operations and a robust knowledge base.
• Teach, train, and educate others across the organization with respect to best practices for presenting and analyzing data to deliver business value.
Qualifications:
Required:
• A bachelor’s degree or equivalent in computer science, information systems, mathematics, engineering or other related field
• Two years of experience, education, or training in coding computer applications
• Programming experience can be substituted for education on a year for year basis
Preferred:
• Bachelors in Computer Science, Data Analytics, Information Systems or related field
• 5 to 10 years of experience translating business requirements into real action for clients through reporting and visualizations
• 3 to 5 years experience creating dashboards and visualizations with PowerBI
• 3 to 5 years experience in SQL (preferably SnowSQL), R, and Python for understanding data
• Health care background preferred
• Strong written and oral communication and presentation skills to collaborate with business leaders, clients and technical personnel
• A technically inclined, self-starter who is detail oriented
• Strong organization, planning, problem solving, and decision-making skills
• Enjoys digging deep for the answer and won't give up until they have it
• Works well independently and collaboratively with peers and external SME
