We're looking for an Accounting Director who sees accounting as more than financial reporting. This role is about providing trusted financial leadership, building strong systems, developing people and delivering the insight that helps leaders make informed decisions. You'll play a key role in strengthening the Chamber's financial operations while supporting the people and programs that advance our mission.

Why this role matters

The Accounting Director is responsible for leading the Chamber's accounting operations while ensuring accurate financial reporting, strong internal controls, regulatory compliance and continuous process improvement across the Chamber and its affiliated organizations.

Working closely with the Senior Vice President of Finance & Operations, you'll help transform financial data into meaningful business insight, strengthen financial stewardship and build the systems and processes that support the Chamber's long-term success.

What you'll own

In this role, you'll:

  • Lead the Chamber's monthly, quarterly and annual financial reporting and close processes.
  • Strengthen accounting operations, internal controls and financial governance.
  • Partner on budgeting, forecasting, executive reporting and cash management.
  • Lead external audits, regulatory compliance and financial risk management.
  • Drive continuous improvement of accounting systems, reporting processes and ERP initiatives.
  • Coach and develop the Accounting team while fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration and continuous learning.
  • Serve as a trusted financial advisor by partnering with leaders on grants, payroll, commissions, investments and strategic initiatives.

What you'll bring

We're looking for someone who brings:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field.
  • CPA preferred.
  • 8+ years of progressive accounting experience, including financial statement preparation and management reporting.
  • 5+ years of leadership or supervisory experience.
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, financial reporting and internal controls.
  • Experience leading month-end and year-end close processes.
  • Expertise in budgeting, forecasting and financial analysis.
  • Strong leadership, coaching and relationship-building skills.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office skills.

Experience with ERP and accounting systems; Microsoft Great Plains experience is helpful.

Experience working within nonprofit, membership-based or similarly complex organizations is preferred.

Compensation & Benefits

Salary Range:
$130,000 - 150,000 annually
