Job Summary

PE-RISK, an independent division of Acrisure, is an independent insurance and risk management consulting firm providing highly tailored solutions to meet the needs of each client. PE-RISK acts as an outsourced risk manager, implementing a customized and efficient service model for each of our client partners. The PE-RISK team has experience and expertise across all industry sectors, with a global reach, providing solutions to real asset and private equity investors around the world. We act as outsourced insurance and risk managers for our clients, primarily in the real estate, infrastructure and private equity space. Examples of real estate assets include offices, residential land, apartments, student housing, industrial, garden centers, retail and mixed use; examples of infrastructure and private equity investments include power, renewables, energy, transport, healthcare, services, manufacturing, staffing and more.

This role provides outsourced risk management for private equity, infrastructure and real estate clients. This role will be predominantly focused on real estate clients. The Director of Risk Management will report to the Executive Director of PE-RISK and support the delivery of comprehensive, client-tailored insurance and risk management services across a global portfolio.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Executive Director as outsourced risk manager for global infrastructure and private equity clients.
  • Work with insurance brokers, client's acquisition, asset management and portfolio company management teams to obtain and organize the information needed to quote and bind comprehensive insurance placements.
  • Support M&A processes from an insurance perspective, including insurance due diligence, risk review, deal document review and transactional insurance placements.
  • Manage brokerage RFPs for global infrastructure, Real estate and private equity clients.
  • Assist in the management and negotiation of complex insurance claims.
  • Support clients in annual insurance budgeting and premium allocation methodologies.
  • Track, maintain and prepare reports on policy information in risk management information systems (as needed).
  • Review and advise on contractual language regarding insurance, liabilities and indemnification in investment-related documents (purchase agreements, joint venture agreements, LLC agreements, loan agreements, tax equity agreements, construction agreements, etc.).
  • Field day-to-day questions from internal and external parties regarding the insurance program, process, coverage, etc.
  • Complete a review / audit of the client's existing insurance program.
  • Participate with the client in its analysis of other third-party insurance and risk management consultants or advisors, including brokers, third party administrators, claims adjusters, etc. (the client is responsible for engaging all consultants or advisors).
  • Provide insurance / risk management related advice and support related to fundraising and financing, including reviewing and commenting on insurance and risk management related inputs and marketing material, and liaising with potential investors, debt / equity markets and their advisors regarding insurance and risk management matters, including reviewing and commenting on insurance and risk management provisions.
  • Assist the client in creating and implementing a centralized insurance and risk management function that clearly defines roles and responsibilities and establishes efficient processes and procedures to support current and future business operations.
  • Assist the client with preparation of the annual insurance / risk management budget, inclusive of recommendations for allocation methodology, if applicable.
  • Assist with the structuring and placement of any transactional insurance products, including representations and warranties, tax liability, contingent liability, environmental liability and run-off management liability.
  • Manage insurance compliance with lender and regulatory requirements and assist the client with providing required documentation.
  • Assist the client in monitoring the quality of service from its brokers and insurance providers and provide recommendations on modifications as needed.
  • Assist with the client's following insurance placements as insurance and risk management advisor:
  • Property Insurance Program Liability Insurance Program Environmental Insurance Program Construction Insurance Program
  • Assist the client with the management of claims.
  • Handle special projects as assigned by the Executive Director or others.
  • Assist in the implementation of a Risk & Insurance Management System or equivalent.

Requirements

  • Strong working knowledge of commercial insurance programs, including property, liability, environmental, and construction coverages.
  • Proven ability to review and advise on insurance, indemnification, and liability provisions in complex transactional and financing documents.
  • Familiarity with insurance budgeting, premium allocation methodologies, and lender and regulatory compliance requirements.
  • Proficiency with risk management information systems (RMIS) and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interface effectively with clients, brokers, insurers, and internal stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and project management skills, with a high level of attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple client engagements and competing priorities across a global portfolio.
  • Willingness to travel as needed to support client relationships.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Risk Management, Insurance, Finance, Business, or a related field; advanced degree or relevant professional designation (e.g., ARM, CPCU, CRM) a plus.
  • Minimum of 8-10 years of progressive experience in insurance and risk management, ideally within a brokerage, carrier, consulting firm, or corporate risk function.
  • Demonstrated experience serving real estate, infrastructure, and/or private equity clients or portfolios
  • Experience supporting M&A transactions from an insurance perspective, including insurance due diligence, deal document review, and transactional insurance products (representations and warranties, tax liability, contingent liability, environmental, and run-off management liability)
  • Experience managing brokerage RFPs and evaluating the performance of brokers, carriers, and third-party administrators
