Director of Finance

Naples Bay Resort & Marina - Naples, Florida

Position Overview

Naples Bay Resort & Marina is seeking a strategic, hands-on Director of Finance to lead all financial operations for the resort, marina, spa, food & beverage outlets, and associated revenue-generating departments. Reporting directly to the General Manager and partnering closely with regional and corporate leadership, the Director of Finance will provide financial stewardship, operational support, and strategic guidance to maximize profitability, ensure compliance, and protect resort assets.

The ideal candidate is an experienced hospitality finance professional with a strong background in luxury resorts, mixed-use hospitality operations, and complex revenue streams.

Key ResponsibilitiesFinancial Leadership & Strategy
  • Serve as a key member of the Executive Leadership Team, providing financial analysis and strategic recommendations.

  • Develop and execute annual operating budgets, capital budgets, and long-range financial plans.

  • Monitor financial performance and identify opportunities to improve profitability and operational efficiencies.

  • Prepare monthly forecasts, variance analyses, and management reports.

  • Present financial results and business insights to ownership, asset management, and corporate leadership.

  • Oversee all accounting functions including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, income audit, cash management, and financial reporting.

  • Ensure accurate and timely month-end and year-end close processes.

  • Maintain compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and company accounting standards.

  • Manage cash flow, banking relationships, and working capital requirements.

  • Review and approve journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial statements.

  • Monitor performance across lodging, marina operations, food & beverage outlets, spa services, retail, and recreational amenities.

  • Analyze departmental revenues, labor costs, and operating expenses.

  • Partner with department leaders to improve financial performance and accountability.

  • Evaluate pricing strategies, revenue opportunities, and cost control initiatives.

  • Establish and maintain strong internal controls and financial safeguards.

  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.

  • Coordinate annual audits, tax filings, and insurance requirements.

  • Manage risk mitigation strategies and asset protection initiatives.

  • Maintain compliance with resort management agreements and ownership reporting requirements.

  • Recruit, train, mentor, and develop accounting and finance team members.

  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

  • Lead performance management and succession planning efforts within the finance department.

  • Promote strong communication and partnership across all resort departments.

What are we looking for?

Required
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field.

  • Minimum 7-10 years of progressive hospitality finance experience.

  • At least 3 years in a Director of Finance, Assistant Director of Finance, Controller, or equivalent leadership role within a resort or luxury hotel environment.

  • Strong knowledge of hotel accounting systems, budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.

  • Experience managing multiple revenue centers including lodging, food & beverage, and recreational operations.

  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial analysis tools.

Preferred
  • CPA, CMA, or MBA preferred.

  • Experience with luxury resorts, destination properties, or mixed-use hospitality assets.

  • Familiarity with hotel systems such as M3, BirchStreet, Oracle, PeopleSoft, Great Plains, Micros, Opera, or similar platforms.

  • Experience working with ownership groups, asset managers, and management companies.
