Summary:  
 
The Scientist III – Sample Preparation R&D / Molecular Biology Scientist - Sample Preparation role is focused on supporting high-impact research initiatives within the Sample Preparation R&D team. The role involves developing and optimizing bead-based nucleic acid extraction and direct-to-qPCR workflows to improve sensitivity, efficiency, and overall performance in molecular biology applications.
 
Responsibilities 
  • Design, execute, and analyze experiments for bead-based DNA and RNA extraction workflows
  • Develop and optimize lysis-to-qPCR and direct-to-PCR sample preparation methods
  • Perform qPCR and RT-qPCR assays to evaluate performance, sensitivity, and robustness
  • Support sample preparation development for complex biological matrices (e.g., plasma, serum, cell culture media)
  • Document experimental data and contribute to technical reports and summaries
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (assay development, automation, product development)
  • Ensure adherence to laboratory safety, quality, and data integrity standards.
Required Skills 
  • Bachelor’s degree with 2+ years or Master’s degree with 1+ years in molecular biology, biotechnology, biochemistry, or related field
  • Hands-on experience with magnetic bead–based nucleic acid extraction (DNA/RNA)
  • Experience with automated sample preparation platforms (e.g., KingFisher™ systems)
  • Experience in an R&D or product development lab environment is highly desired
  • Proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, and JMP statistical analysis software
  • Experience with direct-to-PCR or lysis-only workflows
  • Strong knowledge of qPCR and RT-qPCR (setup, analysis, troubleshooting)
  • Experience handling biological samples and chemical lysis methods
  • Ability to independently plan and execute experiments within timelines
  • Strong problem-solving and experimental design skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • High attention to detail and data quality
  • Ability to work independently and in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
