Job description

Position Summary:
Under general supervision, but in compliance with established policies and procedures, the Engagement, Inclusion, and Belonging Department is responsible for developing high impact programs, events, and communication materials that enhance the EIB strategy. Employees in this position will collaborate with internal departments, external partners, and management to successfully plan and execute a variety of programs, trainings, communication and design the annual EIB Report to further the EIB journey both within and outside the organization.
The MSUFCU internship program is designed to support interns in developing career readiness competencies as defined by NACE. Throughout the internship program, interns will gain hands-on experience and enhance essential skills that prepare them for success and career growth. Interns will have the opportunity to develop competencies in career and self-development, communication, critical thinking, engagement and inclusion, leadership, professionalism, teamwork, and technology.
Work Location: Onsite; At the MSUFCU Headquarters campus in East Lansing, MI
Work Schedule: Part/Full-Time 15-25/week; Hours will be scheduled based on student's school schedule and business hours (8:30AM - 5:00PM Monday-Friday)
Paid Hourly Internship - $16.00/hour
Duration: Fall Semester beginning August 26th 2026, with potential to continue into future semesters
An offer of employment with MSU Federal Credit Union and affiliates is contingent upon the agreed work arrangement (onsite) and work location. Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
EIB Intern:
  • Assist with developing high impact resources and programs that support our engagement, inclusion and belonging initiatives
  • Assist with and attend Affinity Group meetings and events
  • Meet with the Engagement, Inclusion and Belonging team bi-weekly to discuss progress on individual projects and for guidance in areas needing assistance
  • Assist with developing and communicating internal and external content to promote EIB activities, initiatives, and messages for both the internal audience, members, and for recruiting purposes
  • Assist with cultivating partnerships with community members, community organizations, and suppliers aligned to evolve our EIB strategy to include member experiences with assistance
  • Assist with conducting research and benchmarking analysis, including monitoring and reporting on EIB topics, to identify best practices and make recommendations for strategies and solutions that support a culture of inclusion
  • Research external inclusion developments, opportunities, and trends and use findings to drive ideation to support future products, marketing, and messaging decisions
  • Participate in training activities within your department or branch and with the learning and talent development department; such training helps to ensure staff compliance with Credit Union policies and state and federal regulations and laws
  • Perform other duties and assist other employees, as assigned

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:
  • High school diploma required
  • Actively pursuing Associate or Bachelor degree in any subject matter
  • Knowledge of current events affecting diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging work
  • Ability to work effectively with a culturally diverse workforce
  • Ability to commute to East Lansing and surrounding areas for events
  • Must have an understanding or desire to learn about the diversity landscape, including the connection to talent acquisition and learning and development
  • Ability to be innovative, decisive, exhibit integrity, and build trust
  • Must have excellent communication skills both written and oral along with the ability to present information effectively to staff and members
  • Fosters a positive, energizing, fun, and diverse environment
  • Ability to effectively manage project progress and deadlines

Physical Demands & Work Environment:
  • May be required to remain in a stationary position for an extended period of time
  • Ability to operate standard office technology, equipment and tools, which may include many hours of computer and phone usage.
  • Occasionally needs to move about inside of office area
  • Exposure to potentially hazardous condition, i.e. robbery. Receives detailed instructions and procedures to be followed to minimize the exposure
  • This position requires onsite presence at the employee's assigned location for all scheduled shifts
